Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

My Lit Box is acting up. I switch on, open app and then the app just hangs. Happens to all apps.
Some apps will just display the splash screen for much longer than usual and then close automatically. Others like DSTV Now will open, and then get stuck when I try to play something. Pressing the back button in both these scenarios will take me back to the home screen so its not freezing completely, just having trouble opening apps.

Clearing the cache and restarting the box does seem to help, but have to do this everyday. Was not the case before.

I tried over a year back with Google Home and was horribly limited. Never tried with the Dot though

IR won't work at all ; once paired the buttons work (aside from the direct buttons) - but voice won't. It acknowledges the button press (voice pops on the TV) but it doesn't actually pick up voice.

Geewiz have the Mi remotes... I think the LIT is cheaper though, so if it worked... Bonus!

The replacement remote doesn't have a mic.

An update: I had a 90-minute online chat with a dstv agent, trying to get my lit box to connect to dstv now. The guy just followed a very boring flowchart at an extremely slow pace, then said that he will escalate the issue.

The lit box refuses to log into dstv now after a factory reset, but it logged into showmax on the first attempt.

RESOLVED! Dstv Now is working again on my lit box. The dstv "back office" / escalation section did something behind the scenes, but the agent who phoned me to verify that the problem is resolved had no idea of what was done.

I suspect that the lit's Mac address was stuck somewhere in the dstv database, as I did the factory reset without first "unpairing" the dstv now app.

Very fishy ... It does appear to be pre-release (serial number hasn't even been changed) - but none of those are supposed to be floating around

I'll try get info on that serial number :/

Reset my box, cleared data etc.. Set it up. Worked fine. Update pops up. Update. Resets on its own. Never comes back on. Just red lights. Probably bricked itself during update? Guessing no fixes? Nothing seems to work. Not even the hard reset button next to the usbs...

Also experienced this on my A07. Its effing annoying.

I did a factory reset. That seems to have fixed it for now.

Will keep an eye on it

Yeah I did the reset today and restored all apps. Will see how it goes

My LIT Box is not updating. I did a factory reset a number of times but the update does not pop up. Tried on wireless connection and wired. Any ideas?

Hi guys.

About 2 weeks ago my LIT box started acting up and I haven't been able to find any info on this issue anywhere. In short the sound levels have dropped drastically.

As background I have my LIT attached via HDMI to my TV (an old LG LCD TV) with the audio out the TV into a Cambridge Audio amplifier. At first I thought the TV was the issue so I used a Toslink cable out the LIT into a converter and into the amp, but the sound levels were still low. Then I reconnected the TV to the amp and connected a laptop to the TV which then played sound at full volume again, so it's not the TV or the amp, which leaves the LIT.

The weird thing is that the system sounds when scrolling through apps and channels seem to be full volume, but any video played is with low sound levels. I use Plex which is not really an issue as I can boost the volume of the files, but DSTv Now also suffers from the low sound levels and that I can't do anything about.

I'll contact Nology support but I was wondering if anyone else had the same issue? The LIT is fully updated and is an A06.
