Mine has been on Firmware Version 9.6.7 for quite awhile already
I've been dodging it for some time now.
Do you have any regrets after upgrading?

No, but keep in mind, mine is connected to a monitor and a soundbar, and not a TV.

When I got that LiT box back from my folks, the one that was then stuck on 7.0, I replaced it with a Mi Box. The reason I went for the Mi Box and not Mi Stick was I thought it would have LAN - I was wrong.
How many other TV boxes are there besides the LiT that offers LAN and it google certified?

Emantic, and Maverick ... , that I am aware of, Shield Pro, or Formuler.
Tho with the prices I have seen for Formuler locally, I would rather get a Shield.

I have the A07 that is on Android 9. Last week I purchased the Mediabox. It is significantly faster than the lit box.

Ematic has LAN. It works great. I have bought 2 in the past 2 years.
It is possible to get a USB to LAN for the MiBox which also works. I have 1 on my old MiBox3 which is still going strong, but i will replace that with another Ematic when the MiBox finally dies.

The LIT box, and Mi-Box support 4k, other boxes like a Shield TV, do it better.
Very much a "You get what you pay for " situation
The graphs at the bottom of the page echo my experience. The Mediabix is significantly faster than the older generation Lit box.
It also has a gigbit LAN interface.
I'm not knockving the Lit, but it is starting to show it's age...

Are the LIT boxes still available to buy, not seen them in awhile.
The Ematic boxes are basically the same as the new Lit boxes. They are available.

Do the latter struggle a bit with 4K?

Reports vary, seems most do not have issues. Do not have a 4k screen so cannot comment myself.
But there are those that moan, suspect 50 and 60 FPS might be the cause tho.

My A07 and A11 Lit boxes play 4K without too much hassles.
Depends more on the player that you use and the format of video and bitrate.
Sometimes VLC works great, other times its MX Player when VLC have problems.
X265 (HEVC) content are more demanding but the Litbox seems to handle most so far. The X265 biggest files I have played to far has been about 8GB 4K movies and they played just fine. Not sure what would happen with the huge files which are likely encoded with much higher bitrates... I've seen some monstrously large 4K X265 movies (20GB plus) on the torrent sites but gave it a miss so far due to space and download time constraints. I'm sure audio formats also play a role in the playback speed but not sure how much.
Edit: Dolby once shared a jelly fish 4K video test clip on this thread which my Lit box struggled to play. But the bitrate was insanely high.
