Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Thin size, center positive by the looks of it on my old BoB auction pics.

The LIT box I can check, the various power supplies online, don't say what size the plugs are, nor the polarity. I know it is 5V 2A.

If I can avoid it, I would rather not have to cut and join wires, to get right plug si,e and polarity. Kids have a way of taking things apart, and not putting them back together the way they where.

Load shedding here so I checked mine:

5V 2A
Centre positive
OD 3,5mm
ID about 1.5

Thanks - this helps
You can use any USB charger that outputs 5v at 2A. They were included with most Samsung phones for years. They seem to be very well built, as I use and abuse them for many projects without issues.

Just a question of finding the correct sized plug and soldering it on.

My Wife handed those out to "needy" family members, left right and center. :(

amazing how difficult it is to get the right connecters for stuff like this. I dont know why they dont revert to micro USB slot (or some other standard) to avoid this crap of having different connectors for different devices. Same with routers etc. Pain in the ass to find replacements.

Look on the bright side - they can still be used.

Had she given away the LiT boxes some other poor soul would have needed to discard it in the trash.

That would have been fine, now the LIT box is my problem - if the Kid, and Wife did not know I had it, it would long ago be in the trash. Past battling my rear end of, because people cannot look after their stuff. [ sigh ]

Mi Box. It is what I got for my old folks and never get any more calls about "The TV is not showing Netflix/Youtube/Streamax". Just be sure to wire that sucker in via a USB LAN dongle. Pure bliss I say.

Got a Xiaomi Mi TV 4K Stick, in the Lounge, and it works great, but the Kid insists he wants to use the LIT box. [ sigh ] other kid very happy with Mi-Box.

Pro tip - when it starts fudging up - blame it on Wi-Fi.

Works. Every. Time.

We have a couple of the older FHD Mi TV Sticks at the holiday house, obviously on Wi-Fi, had no issues with them when I was there last week but then again, the spectrum there is not crowded.

If it was a bigger industry I think this issue would have come to a head and been dealt with by some governing body. The proliferation of smart TVs means the few of us who still use boxes are left to the whims of the manufacturers.

how do i go about a factory reset? it's been sitting on the sidelines since the netflix debacle but i think i might have found another use for it.

This is the instruction I got from Nology a couple of years ago:

Here is how to do a hard factory reset on the device:

• Remove the power cable.

• Insert a paper clip into the hole between the two USB ports.

• Press and hold the reset button while inserting the power cable until an Android recovery screen appears, then release the reset button.

• Select factory reset and then reboot on the remote.

SDR to HDR
and
HDR to SDR settings on the lit box?
