Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

elaborate what you mean ..
backend doesnt mean what you think it does...

Netflix may have been provided a list of MAC addresses to block which is quite common.

MACs can be spoofed.
Its not based on MACs. Its based on ESN.
By backend he means the Netflix servers. They do an ESN check and if the device is not on the authorised list it does not get access to the service.

An ESN, or Netflix Electronic Serial Number, is a globally-unique identifier for each device. Even if you have two of the same TVs at home: same brand, model and year, and they both have the Netflix TV app installed, they do not have the same ESN.

Thats great, but ESN can be changed/spoofed too like MAC

Regardless im not fussed about Netflix

I just want to replace the god awful Telkom branded firmware.

You don’t like seeing the name ? Or what is it do you think Telkom has a huge influence over?

Gosh … someone else that thinks he knows it all and how things work

Don’t think this situation has happened anywhere else in the world.

Elaborate on ‘quite common’ ?

The Telkom branded part is a few seconds in the beginning. The rest after that is exactly like the Mibox etc.

I killed/"uninstalled" the default launcher and loaded a custom launcher as I don't like a small ribbon for installed apps.

And as for Netflix, it works in Kodi (probably at SD only, never checked).

Thought I might as well use this box to play some old games.

I can't even get RetroArch running on this box. Anybody managed to install it? Or any other emulator?
I managed to get this working by sideloading RetroArch.

Working great for the best roms I have. But I want to have retro arch download the thumbnails to the USB drive I am using for the roms.

How do you enable write access to a USB drive added to the box?

Now that might work, pity they don't say what the connector size is or the polarity.
Thin size, center positive by the looks of it on my old BoB auction pics.
