Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

yeah i know about that one and have downloaded it again... just can't think of a reason they will put LIT box as a device for Netflix on the app store if it still doesn't work

Netflix works, the Netflix tv app on the lit box is not yet certified to run on the lit box. According to posts here, Telkom is busy negotiating with Netflix to get certified so that the tv app can run. But yes if they are successful inly time will tell

Anyone manage to get either BBC iPlayer or Disney Now working?

Still waiting for mine but everything I have read so far indicates that UK facing VPN is a requirement for iPlayer. Disney Now have no idea at all.

They both work on my rokus so I'm hoping they will on the LIT... if I can find them.

Hi Guys

Got my box at Canal Walk a couple of days ago, and everything seems to work. I do have a couple of questions though:

1) when watching DSTV Now via the app, it really doesn't appear to be in HD (picture seems more crisp than SD, but definitely not as good as watching via the dish. Maybe it's the refresh rate or something that's the problem, coz on sport channels when watching football on SS3, I definitely pick it up when the screen pans. What are your impressions regarding watching via the DSTV Now app and watching via the dish? I even tried watching via LTE (25mb/s connection) with no improvement. Don't get me wrong, it's watchable, just not what I'd call proper 720P.

2) I can stream Youtube at 1080P no problems (Netflix too), but when I try to select one of the HD streams on Terrarium TV (awesome app btw), it buffers like a mofo. Does this app just require a much better connection than Youtube/Netflix does?

For reference, I have a 4mb/s adsl line.

I'd appreciate your thoughts and recommendations!

The roku is running android tv os. So it has a limited play store (only apps that are designed for TVs are in the store). If you can’t find it in there you will need to use the normal google play store apk and side load it on the LIT

I know exactly what you mean, and good grief it's annoying. Sure the quality is lower than dish, but at least MC have increased the bit rate recently.

There is definitely something up with the refresh rate. It's not smooth, and it drives me nuts. I'm sure its the actual feed though, and nothing to do with the LIT device.

I noticed that even when I use DSTV now on my PC and connect to my projector, it does the same thing.

Try explaining that to MC though... they wont have a fckin clue what you talking about

'k, the there should be doable on the LIT box, you might have to download APK from the BBC, or maybe use the nVidia Shield APK, tho the BBC has been rough on VPN connections, but, if working on the Roku's that should not be an issue.

Darn, you Telkom, gimme, my box, so I can play ... dammit ... :D

Which apk did you download? I see there is an nvidia shield apk, but have a feeling that it will be locked to nvidia but might work

I've been downloading every version I could find, including the Nvidia. :o

Did you just pick one up or were you on a waiting list? And if I was supposed to get a box from another store, can I get it from another branch like canal walk if they have stock?

1. Dstv now streaming was recently improved (!) but its still not proper HD though. I think the resolution might be 720p (on some channels) but the bitrate is well below the usual HD bitrate.

2. Netflix and Youtube are the kings of streaming perfection. I have a 4mb ADSL line as well and can only watch some selected shows or movies on TTV in 1080p without buffering. There are not too many links/sources that are both fast and 1080p.... Try some well known movies as they are more likely to have good fast sources.
