Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Been thinking - would it be possible to cast a movie from a phone via the LIT box to a TV - thinking about the wife's Sunday School class.

Sure but you'd probably need to be on the same network, wouldn't you?

Wouldn't it be easier just to use a memory stick plugged directly into the LIT box?

Possibly - but my experience is that there is almost always a movie clip on the phone that did not make it onto the memory stick for some reason that she wants to use as part of the days lesson.

So being able to cater to or support all options can make life simpler and less stressful.

Any special apps required - for casting from phone - trying to avoid having to acquire a laptop for now, tho will probably have to at some point.
Most things can be done through the Google Home app , specifically for video most video players are able to cast to Chromecast

I've just tried casting and it seemed to bomb out but maybe that was just the file type (mkv). Personally I'd just pop out the Micro SD card if I forgot to transfer the file, or plug the memory stick into the phone and copy it over, but to each their own.

Personally I try keep everything as mp4, seems to be most portable format. Forget it also has a SD card slot. Copy to USB can also work provided an OTG cable is available.

I operate my a06 with a wireless mouse. Better than the annoying remote

Hi Guys, remote is broken, cant take back to telkom. Do not have HDMI CEC as option as its an old tv. What remote could you recommend for the tv box? A remote my wife and kids could use with ease.

I saw an interesting app on the Play Store : SURE Universal Smart TV Remote Control - uses infrared blaster and WiFi to control many different things . Smartphone needs infrared function obviously if not using WiFi . Controls air conditioners you name it.
