Bought Roku express on your indirect advice and love it great device just works.
Enjoy :)

But for me personally. the Roku is just old. It's great that one can save a few bucks though, but it really has little place in a high resolution world. And like I said earlier, the issue IS Netflix, so a little unfair to write off the box as 'junk'.
That Roku might be "old" but it works, and there are plenty of other models to choose from.

Now granted you haven't had either the Roku in question or the LIT box, so your experience with either device is somewhat limited, but Netflix on the Roku, as opposed to shoehorned onto the LIT box, is a superior experience. Perhaps that will change should the LIT box become certified, time will tell.

Has anyone had issues with picture break up on some movies?

It is movies stored locally (not internet streaming) and the same movies work fine when played on a Raspberry PI3 running Kodi.

On the LIT I have tried playing them using Kodi and VLC - same problem. LIT is on a GB Wired connection to the server storing the media.

Still planning to take a look at the format of the files that have the problem and compare to files that work to see if I can find the common denominator.

LIT port is 10/100

I got faster using WiFi on AirTies (AC1600 mesh)

Not had an issue with watching movies from USB sticks or SD cards - but also I do not watch many movies that way, and try and ensure all movies are mp4 format as far as possible.

I have a lit box. Its connected via wifi to the adsl router. Its been working fine until recently.

For the last while I've noticed that whenever my box is on the WiFi on all other devices becomes unusable. In addition the box itself becomes really slow and unusable. The moment I turn it off/ unplug then the WiFi on my phone returns to normal... virus or something? I guess I will have to factory reset or something like that....

Could anyone please post a pic of a 4k YouTube vid on the litbox and what the 'Stats for Nerds" blurb says?

I've actually found something very interesting :

Streaming the 4k video straight from my Samsung Smart TV and doing stats for nerds, I see my line speed at 20+Mbps ....

But using the LIT box, it's half that!

Here :

Same video and same time - left is on my TV (22Mbps) and right is the LIT (10Mbps)

Lit not doing 4k there.

I know - that's the issue.

I can't do above 11Mbps on the LIT - yet the TV (same video / same time / multiple times) has no issues. It seems be limiting the bandwidth on the LIT (and I don't use LIT packages)
