@Taranchio @rodga you guys manage to get DSTV now working again? Mine is not activating and just stays on the screen with the code, yet when I enter the code on the webpage it says success.

Thanks Dolby
Im not using dstv on the updated box, so can't help there sorry.
Also I pulled the cable on the first update on the startup screen. After about 20 mins.
The 2nd update didn't need that.

Checked my update app.. No update![]()
So I've chatted to the engineer involved :
1. Telkom is running limited trials upgrading LIT boxes to Netflix firmware.
2. Given High Definition Content Protection (HDCP) rules it is quite an involved process, executed in three steps:
• Comms module upgrade which will auto-reboot your device – without much warning.
• Upgrade to firmware version 8.2.36 which is an interim firmware. Your device will start downloading in the background and only once ready to upgrade, you will see a prompt. Given that this step takes you from Android 7 to Android 8 (major change) the box requires to be factory reset – so backup any data you might want to hang onto. If your box is connected via Ethernet cable it will proceed automatically to the last step (if DHCP enabled), but if using Wi-Fi, you will have to connect it to your AP again before the final firmware will download. (don’t setup anything else at this stage as the box will be wiped again).
• Upgrade to final firmware version 8.2.38 – this is the Netflix certified firmware. Again it will download in the background and give you a prompt to upgrade firmware. Again it will factory reset (due to HDCP rules).
3. Your box will now be on 8.2.38 with a new nav layout and Netflix pre-loaded.
4. If your box started with the process but did not complete it, I suggest emailing the Nology Help Desk on [email protected] for assistance. Also note that enough space needs to be made available on internal storage for the firmware image to download – the question of “how much space is needed” is largely irrelevant since the process will factory reset the box anyway, so no use to keeping anything on there really.
I think it will be a great idea if somebody from Nology can join the forum and this thread at least until December when the roll-out is done to assist with queries and support. Just my 5c.
If I'm not mistaken, that "app" for ota updates has never worked. With Android TV, to get updates, one needs to go into settings, about, then system update and check for updates... That's how it works on the Mibox anyway. That "app" that comes on the Litbox is for nothing.
Or even better, supply us with the update image so we can manually update the box our ourselves[emoji1305
I get that, but for the few that are bit more knowledgeable and accept the risk would be awesome! Thanks @DolbyI think a big part of why they wouldn't be happy, is people not following the process and bricking their own devices.
Just a guess on my side - but I'll chat to them
Then a few minutes later I got the upgrade popup - to 8.2.36. I selected yes. The box restarted ....and then halted and displayed a picture of a little dead android lying on it's side with a red X on it. And nothing happened. Needless to say I thought the box was bricked. But I gave it about 5 minutes and eventually it rebooted and went back to the old version. No successful update.

@KobusL & @SeRpEnT
Can you guys post how your LiT box is connected to say AV or TV etc?
As @Dolby posted from engineer guy, the box needs to reset due to HDCP rules so my guess is something failed along this process [totally a guess on my part].
I think we need a template for users who have had the upgrade and their setup since all will not be the sameand for those who have had the dead android lying on it's side with a red X
