Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

My dad said the lit box I have in the spare room notified him of an update last night. But he clicked on no. And switched it off. When I switched it on now. The dead android with exclamation and the word error appeared. 5 minutes later and it’s back to old android (7)

So likely, will treat as later and later sometime, you will again be prompted to update, doudt it is a train smash.

So tell him to accept the update, the leave the box alone, if it appears to be hung, leave it for half an hour ( should be enough time for update to run - unless you on slow line or update server is dead slow ), then he can do the pull power plug, re-insert after an interval and update continues.

Otherwise he just keeps on not accepting update, till it happens when you are there.

No simple solution for the elderly and technically inept. Maybe wait an hour after it hangs, if it does, will be better, as then you are not likely to brick it halfway through the update.

Difficult

That would work is it did not factory reset, removing all the apps. But yeah I’ll check again later on

It has a bar coded sticker underneath, with serial number on. Toward the middle will be a capital A, followed by numerals, 07 for an A07, A11 for an A11, and so on.
I'm baffled. The serial number on my LIT box does not contain an A, so how do I identify it?

So I'll repeat this:

The serial number on my LIT box does not contain an A, so how do I identify it?

I've just checked again, no 'A' anywhere in the serial number that appears on the barcoded sticker.

Mine starts with SDTVB1B05

First report I have seen of a B05 serial number, sorry...

Those that have been reported are A06, A07, A11, and A12 - yours is the first one with a B05 number.

How long have you had the LIT TV box, possibly the newest version in circulation.

I got it fresh from the Telkom store, probably less than 2 months ago. Maybe @Nology will be able to help out.
