Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Hi everyone, new member but I've been following this thread since I got my LIT box. Anyway, I just thought I'd let everyone know about my experience with the update as it may help some people. So I have the A11 and I'd been receiving the popup notifications to update for the past week or so. Every time I tried to install it though, I got the bot with the error. After checking up on this thread I decided to factory reset my device and remove the sd card I had formatted as internal memory. The problem was I stopped getting the popup update notifications. So today I emailed Nology with the details mentioned previously in this thread - serial # and MAC address, asking for another popup notification. I never received a response BUT I did receive a popup notification to update. I decided to take the plunge despite hearing many A11s being bricked and updated my device. I updated while connected via an ethernet cable just to be safe. Everything seemed to work out but then it froze on the new home screen with a green background overlay. Felt a bit worried so let it sit for a while. I then tried the power button, tried to reset by pressing long on the power button and eventually just pulled the power plug out and put it back which worked. It started up fine and then I got busy, by the time I got back the second update popup appeared and I installed that one as well. This time the home screen loaded perfectly with no issues. Netflix, Showmax and DSTVNow were preloaded - Showmax and DSTVNow both worked on a brief test.

I still cant DSTV now to work. Shows success when adding the code, but still won't connect. So right now im just casting from my phone to the tv

Just do it :P

there seem to be lots of permutations. SD card seems to also be a factor

SD is the problem. If you format the SD card to use as internal storage, it won't work. The OS Or update cannot be stored on removal storage, even if its done to like that. The update needs to be loaded on the actual box, as you could have issues if the SD is damaged or removed

Could it be related to the Dstv account? Perhaps too many devices registered on the account or the device was previously registered so it might be seeing it as a duplicate?

Agree, I had no SD card in for the update and no issues (well for the first update I had to power down the device when it was stuck on the loading screen) by the looks of things in most cases it looks like it's the SD card that's plaques the update

Netflix - Working
YouTube - Working well again
DSTV Now - Working

The only thing I see is that the play next is not showing up on the home screen (I have enabled it on customized channels feature)

My update failed last week and I have not received the update popup again. I hope that I will receive it again.

Same issue here. Dstv Now worked fine prior to the updates. Both updates were successful and everything else works fine except for Dstv Now. Tried uninstalling the latest update of Dstv Now but cannot open the app thereafter. Can only update. If I update then it doesnt work with the update.

Reset the box after both updates. Let DSTV now and all other apps update, before adding new apps. Then log into DSTV now. Should work then

Nice, would like to get the upgrade, but am still in the queue apparently - not sure it is going to work properly, but what worries me more, is that it will be busy updating, and Eskom, will decide it is Siesta time, and crash, my update, but yeah, so sooner it happens, probably for best

I actually took mine to work, plugged it to a spare monitor lying around and in the event Eskom cuts power the generators will kick in. The update didn’t take too long - I’d say 20 minutes max but you also can’t predict when eskom will cut power.... good luck man

Since this darn update (can I go back?) When I want to copy or paste with es file it says task failed ???
Anyone ?

Reset your device, 1 or times. This seems to help any niggles

My es works fine, especially side loading apps using cloud drive

Actually not a bad idea, except my Boss is disagreeable about such things :(
