Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Is the new update Android 8? Cause I am very close to ditching the Telkom LIT and getting a Mi Box. I only use it for Youtube, Showmax and Kodi.
 
I think this has been asked before, but do you have to be connected to the Telkom network to receive the updates? I got my Lit box from a family member who didn't use it. I'm not on the Telkom network.

Interesting. I have the logitech harmony hub with 1x extra blaster. The remote is wifi to the hub. I never have issues sending signals to the lit box, except when the batteries in the remote go flat, which is easily fixed. Bit expensive for a random test for you tho.

hi and how does one get hold of the manufacturer as i would like a copy of the original firmware???

Having the same issue, mine updated overnight and now looks completely different plus lost all my apps like Terrarium, Cinema HD, TeaTV, worst now can seem to be able to side load anything... no browser seems to be working to get droidadmin :-(
Can any one help, please?

You need to install ES File Explorer from store. Then download APKs onto USB and browse to it with ES and install. I just installed Hulu like this. Also installed Amazon, but throws error 1066 when launching.

Well, Puffin Browser, is in the Google Play Store, as well as a few others, search for Internet Browser, and you should be done.

Found this thread after I experienced some issues with my LIT box after the update this morning. Netflix says that version is not compatible and cant open dstv now. When i click on it, it goes to the app store window and only displays full description option. Cannot download or open dstv now from play store.

Did you do 1 or 2 updates? There will be a 2nd update after the first update that will also pop up a dialog promoting you to update. Latest version is 8.2.38

Second update failed then. Got the message for a second one and clicked install (was waiting for it after some messages here). Left the tv to do a few other things and came back to setup once again. Just checked and see the firmware is still on 36. Can i force it, or should i just wait again.

Unfortunately you will have to wait for 2nd update. You need to be on 38.

Try rebooting device and leaving it on, hopefully the update popup shows soon.

I believe you've been sorted ... But my advice is to hang tight a little on the remote side of things.
