2 possible non-technical suggestions:
1. The first rule of IT: unplug it, count to 10 then plug it in and try again.

2. Try using the power switch on the Lit box. Maybe the remote is faulty.

Another possibility that has been mentioned in this thread: with some TVs (mainly LG?), the resolution setting on the Lit box is wrong. Try using a different TV or a monitor. If the box then starts, set resolution on the box to 1080p, before reconnecting it to the TV.

If this also does not solve the problem, contact the supplier (Nology)

Yeah my LitBox died as well now. @Nology can you please assist us as to why the box would randomly just die?

I switched the box on earlier, it rebooted itself after I switched it on. Mind you I die install the update. Upon the box being on again it gave a pop up message saying: "Not in Range" then went off. For the life if me I can't fathom how to get this thing on again as the remote doesn't want to work and the button on the box.

'Not in Range' sounds like a resolution issue to me

What apps do you guys suggest for live international sport?
I've got DSTV Premium account and all is fine there.

But I notice they do not get rights to other sporting events, for eg. the T20 cricket leagues (PSL, BPL, CPL) and I'm assuming these would be shown on the sub-continents channels (Ten Sports, Star Sports), maybe SKY?
Anyone use any app that streams these channels?

Would not mind being able to supplement DSTV Now, for similar content either. Most times DSTV is good enough

Depending on where you stand on the "legality" front, a service such as StreamIPTV (at R150 per month) does offer very good value.

I have a small piece of prestick to cover the red lights. I only leave the IR receiver uncovered. Works for me.

Late update. But I want to thank @Nology for assisting me and getting the LIT Box working again. Great service, thank you.

It is great to see, that there are companies, that are prepared to support the product they sell, and generally be of assistance to their clients.

I have on too many occasions, had the experience of, we have your money, now bugger of and sort your own hassles out, so kudo's to Nology.

thats ingenious...! i never thought of that

it doesn't help with the fact that I can't switch it on though. I think I should just send Nology an email and wait for them to respond.

Hi guys,

Thinking of dumping DSTV and going the Netflix and StreamIPTV route (for live sport). Question, will my uncapped 4mbps uncapped fibre handle live TV and Netflix. Pic quality does not have to be HD. 720p is fine with me. I will also consider using some of the saving from dumping DSTV, and upgrade to 10mbps line. Your thoughts will be appreciated.

4mbps is fine for 720p, provided, there is no one with a smart phone or tablet, also surfing, or on YouTube ...

Continious speeds required with no buffering:
4k - 16.0 Mbps
1080p - 4.2 Mbps
720p - 2.8 Mbps
576p - 2.2 Mbps
480p - 1.8 Mbps
360p - 1.4 Mbps
255p - 900 Kbps

Guys, I updatedto the latest firmware on my Lit model A11. And installed kodi from playstore. I have no option for DTS-HD-MA or Dolby HD. My receiver supports all these formats. And on the previous firmware I had these ptions in Kodi. Any ideas..

I still want to try plex and older version of kodi. I hope its not the lit box itself with the new Android OS.

Restart the box with your AVR turned on.

You do realise Kodi 18 is now in the Play Store and not Kodi 17 anymore?
Kodi 18 doesn't support devices like the Lit Box, Skyworth Binge, Mi Box in regards to HD Audio Passthrough correctly anymore since those devices run broken Android Oreo firmwares that don't implement the new Android Audio framework used by Kodi. DTS, AC3 is non-HD and should still work. The blame is mostly with Amlogic, the chipset vendor that provide these broken Oreo firmware code to the manufacturers, then the manufacturers also have no idea how to fix it themselves.

If passthrough doesn't work, you can try to search for a 'shitty' Kodi build in their forums for devices with broken or 'shitty' firmware, but these apps will always be out of date and need to be sideloaded.

From the Mi box developers, running the same S905x chipset used in the Lit, Binge devices:
Well, according to a supposed Xiaomi developer, they will disable TRUEHD and DTSHD support on next build for the Mibox3 and they will not support it on the Mibox s. The answer was given on the Mibox group in Facebook about DTSHD and TrueHD support on the Mibox S.

Other issues with Kodi 18 on all 3 these devices, S905x devices with AndroidTV Oreo
- Audio dropouts with passthrough
- Bugs with regards to AAC to PCM conversion (where surround tracks are being provided to AVR's and other equipment as stereo vs. what the actual speaker settings are in Kodi)
- Audio/video out of sync
- No frame-rate switching
- No color range switching
- Video playback has micro stutters
- Mpeg2, SD content playback is a disaster
- No deinterlacing support
- No 10-bit H264 or proper HDR support

Only 32-bit firmware support even if it's a 64-bit S905x CPU, causing performance problems.

The Lit Box and Mi Box are great for 4K Netflix but for Kodi or serious video playback they are a disaster.
For best video playback, always use a LibreELEC Linux Kodi OS compatible device(not possible on locked down Google Certified AndroidTV devices).
With LibreELEC compatible Android devices, you also have HD Netflix out of the box as it's open-source Linux and not Android.

@Dirtdiver @xbmcfan - The lit box currently supports 6 channel PCM audio and passthrough in my testing. I noticed my audio was all of a sudden stereo again in Kodi. I had to go back into settings and redo all the settings now my passthrough and 6 channel audio works again. If it is AAC, its sent over 6 channel PCM, if its DD, DD+, DTS ect its sent as is and my amp decodes the audio.

Sadly I do see the audio dropouts, but 99% of the time you do not hear it, I only see the decoder shows the stream restarted. I attributed this to Kodi changing the playback speed to try and match the refresh rate of the tv instead of switching the tv to match the fps of the stream. Either way it mostly works ok for now for me.
