Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

I get a connection to wifi showing "Connected", but internet is not working. The phone hotspots I connect to have internet and adequate signal strength to the box.

It was working all morning, but after transferring files to the Lit via a LAN connection (router with no internet), the internet don't work on wifi.

I unplugged the ethernet cable, disabled an re-enabled wifi - with restart after every change. Forget network and re-entering password. Proxy is set to None.

Also, "no internet" is not showing, only "Connected".

Any ideas?

I decided to try a VPN connection and it worked, but it's too slow. Once I restart the Lit, no internet again.

I did a factory reset and everything working now.

The only other thing I should've tried was to uninstall the only app that could reach the internet - the VPN app. It was not configured to autostart on boot, but may have found a way to break something after an update this morning.

Anybody been able to get HDR to output via YouTube?

If I select a 4k HDR 10bit video on YouTube from the Telkom LIT, my TV input shows "UHD" but no "HDR" If I watch something in 4K HDR via Netflix or Prime Video from the Telkom LIT, the input on my TV shows "UHD | HDR". Also, if I watch the same YouTube video with the built in TV app, you see a definitive change in brightness and colours. This tells me its not the Telkom LIT but YouTube app itself that is not sending the correct metadata relevant for HDR through to the TV.

Anybody else noticing this?

Are you watching the exact same content? If not, try and see it does the same.

I actually think the best experience for YouTube is is probably the smart TVs - as everything else seems to lack something.

The Android TVs seem to do UHD, but not HDR
The Apple TV does neither
Tizen and WebOS do both

This is getting rather tiresome - really

This constant dstvnow linking kuk has made stopped bothering to use it at all really. It happens each and every time for me when trying to watch on xbox1. On my pc and chrome it never happens

The dstv guy is talking crap. I had the same issue. It took me 3 days of back and fro before they eventually escalated the matter to their back office tech staff. The back office guys did it out quickly. There was some obscure flag set on my account that was preventing the lit box from logging in on their krapie system.

One of the dumb dstv chat people asked l asked if my internet is on. That while on an online chat!

Same happened to me last year. See my post 4514. Get the dstv online chat agent to escalate the issue to the back office specialises

Wife said DSTV has popped a authentication number message. Will fix in a few days, when I remember.
