Ah, I sometimes forget my privileges in UK.

Its actually a silly name. They should have just called the Google TV with Chromecast, would have made more sense bwcause that's really what it is.
 
Oh well, both LITs factory formatted and chucked in the bin. They had a good run across two continents, even watched DSTV Now with them in UK.

2nd Chromecast with Google TV should be arriving Monday.
 
I also picked up an ematic box today. Working fine. What hurts me is that I cannot find any difference between the hardware on the ematic and the lit. Same processor, graphics, ram, storage, everything.

Thanks Telkom for not disappointing.

Xiaomi is substandard. Everything works, always, on the Litbox.
On the Mibox things often go wrong. Apps sign out, internet sometimes finicky.
Ematic will be my choice when on special somewhere.

I'm using a mibox for about a week now and it's super smooth. Have had no issues.

I wanted to show someone Dstv Now in Kodi (it start up directly to an awesome TV guide), but all apps were problematic, which means no internet and I had to restart.
Moved to another tv with Litbox and as always working smoothly. When you have a benchmark to compare it to, it is noticable. On its own you may not pay much attention to the little issues.
 
Does anyone know why I cannot cast Netflix from a phone to the LIT Box. Is this also blocked? Other media casts fine from the same phone and Netflix plays perfectly on the phone.

Not even Netflix in Kodi work. Nothing.

Never had an issue with the mibox, also the LIT box has had official Netflix support removed.

We are all aware of the Netflix issue, but I won't buy Mibox again. Even if the lan port, more USB ports are not needed (it is needed though).

Edit: We have three Miboxes and one Litbox in the family.

Same here, in fact I am glad I switched my folks over to a Mi Box a few months ago else I would have had another LiT box to replace. We have two Mi Sticks at the holiday house and they also work flawlessly. Nothing wrong with the Xiaomi ones.

I've literally had one or other lit box since they were released. I just sold my two latest ones about week ago and my litbox needed to be restarted maybe once a week as kodi would be non responsive. No such issues on the mibox.

Also the remote battery cover on the lit sucks big time. The one part always breaks which causes the cover to be less secure.
 
Is it possible that DSTV / SABC / ICASA had something to with Telkom withdrawing support for Netflix? it is just so convenient to do this, to take out a substantial portion of Netflix subscribers.

I believe that level of tactic is above Hellkom's logic.
I think they moved license fees from Netflix to Joox as the new music service was announced around 2-3 weeks ago

So my two Lit boxes are now worthless and the same thing can happen to the other devices in the future? Do you think it is safer to buy the Apple Tv ? More expensive but al least you can expect better service from the company?My Roku is working well after all these years but not compatible with Dstv. So I wasted a lot of money on cheaper devices ..
