Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Sorry but there is no way in hell apple would dump netflix. that would cause the earth to tilt on its axis.

Like I said in the other thread, the Apple has (had?) limitations that most Apple users don't care about - as long as they can tell me people they have an Apple ;)

These guys were the last box to offer UHD - but no one cared, because they had an Apple ...
They were running YouTube in 1080 - but no one cared, because they had an Apple ...
It couldn't run Kodi - but no one cared, because they had an Apple ...
It could switch on/off popular smart lights - but no one cared, because they had an Apple ..

My Samsung TV could do YouTube (UHD/HDR), Netflix (UHD/HDR), Apple TV (UHD/HDR), Google Movies, Amazon Prime (UHD/HDR10+) - but Apple users would never be caught dead using it.

In other words, I think that it won't suit everyone as a fair number of guys on MyBB are tinkerers. And an Apple is 3 x price ...

It's specifically the Netflix UHD HDR.

The box is Google certified and has the assistant, Chromcast, runs DSTV etc - all in the correct resolution. But often the issue arises with Netflix itself, as that doesn't work as a 'normal' app that is loaded over the OS.

PS You can see the Netflix serial number in the About ... I think TV Settings

@Dolby Probably been asked before so bear with me. Why don't the certified boxes support HD surround pass through on recorded media? Is it possible to be certified yet allow for this?

I'm not 100% sure, but as a guess it's one of these, or maybe a combination :

A) S905X chips can't handle and it needs to be something with a more power.

B) Google certification is more about the code and that it hasn't been tampered with. It's kinda like a verification. I'd guess that licensing still need to be paid to Dolby (not me!)

It's not A.

I have a Mi Box with Android 8.0 still on it and can play HD audio. It's the same with the Apple TV, Plex can't play HD audio on it but Infuse can because they pay the licensing fee for the app.

And a Mi running ATV 9?

They removed it when they updated it to 9.0

So what I did with mine was install a bunch of apps to fill it up enough that the update just says failed to download everytime I turn it on.

So for those that wants to know, there is a not so great workaround but you can get Netflix to work with kodi 19 and the CastagnaIT repo, you just have to edit the ESN in KODI for it to work.

Stock ESN reads : NFANDROID2-***-******-*****-****=***-****-

Edit it by changing the "NFANDROID2" to "NFANDROID1" so it looks like this:
NFANDROID1-***-******-*****-****=***-****-
Do we use the ESN from the Litbox or another device, like Mibox?

You must use the ESN from the device you are working on its specific to that device and not comparable with other makes and models.

It doesn't work. Did you do this on a Litbox?

Yes Telkom LIT box made by SDMC, Tested this on all 3 of my Lit Boxes.
This is what i have done:

Just to add: The addon for KODI is the CastagnaIT add-on you can get from GitHub

So after kodi 19 is installed with the Netflix add-on successfully installed go to the Netflix add-on open it up
Go to add-on settings
Change to Expert mode
Go down to Expert
Scroll to ESN / Widevine settings and open
Click reset and the ESN will appear
Click on Change ESN
Change the NFANDROID2 to NFANDROID1 leave the rest and click OK
Make sure Widevine is on Disabled this will leave it on L1
Click Apply changes
and ok

Try playing a video on the add-on

Everywhere I've read says it isn't.

Do have a UHD HDR screen and see the below?

I'm not saying you're wrong, but it would be terrible for guys to sell the LIT and buy another box with Netflix issues as well.

So what would be the best thing to do right now? I'm really skeptical about selling my LIT Box. But without Netflix why should I keep it? Any particular reason?

If you used it for Netflix and will continue to do so, I'd sell it. It's doubtful (ie it won't) official Netflix is ever going to return to this device and then you're stuck with complex workarounds and a subpar experience on Netflix. In that case, I'd get a Netflix box.

However, there are other consumers who actually don't use or about Netflix. They have their own backed up content and use Android boxes as Plex end points.

These are the only people that will still be keen.

At the end of the day, the box is still Google Certified and running a proper Android TV version. It's not totally worthless to everyone.
