Hi,

Not sure if this post is directed under the correct Discussion Group... We have 10 Licensed Channels with Teamviewer and since this morning we cannot make any outgoing connections to clients.

Called Teamviewer support and connected to their Pc's internationally with no issues at all but as soon as we try to connect locally to any clients all connections fail. According to Teamviewer they had numerous calls from South-Africa and everyone experiencing issues uses Telkom as their ISP, Obviously Telkom does not have a clue what I am talking about when you call them "yeah call me the idiot for even trying to think that they would be able to answer me"

Does anyone know if there has been any major Telkom network changes or anyone else that can confirm the same experiences today with Teamviewer who is also using Telkom as their ISP ?

Regards,

Yes guys, a lot of people mentioned this in the Telkom LTE uncapped thread ... so it's not just affecting ADSL then, but anything Telkom related.

I have Telkom uncapped lte and as of this morning I cannot connect to any partners using my Telkom connection. When connecting with Mtn all is working. Logged a ticket at Teamviewer. No feedback from them yet. Telkom call center not aware of anything. Don't even know what Teamviewer is.

Yeah, me too. Telkom LTE uncapped. I've reported the issue via DM on Twitter @HelloTelkom I recommend anyone having issues do the same.

Not working on Telkom LTE. Working fine on Vodacom mobile. TeamViewer released a statement that it has to do with ISP's using Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Wanted to connect to my home machine today from work. I get a connection error. Tried from my phone on Vodacom network to my work laptop (on the LAN at the office) and all works fine. When I got home tried with my ipad / phone and same error as I had at work.

Switched off my Telkom LTE and connected home laptop to a Vodacom network and Teamviewer connections work fine. Says to me Telkom are blocking it. The guy on the help line says "log out of teamviewer with Telkom and Log in with your Vodamail email" - I think the oke has been on the juice, he doesn't seem to know what Teamviewer is and then tells me it is illegal. Seriously!!

It is logged with them but who knows what detail is on the log and whether I will ever hear anything. Teamviewer on Telkom for me has never not worked, except today..... I have made no changes on anything. Any advice?

Cheers

Teamviewer on Telkom LTE Not Working?

Hi Guys,

Quick question, we use TeamViewer a lot during the day to support customers, however yesterday it stopped working (when we try to log into a user's machine remotely it says "A connection could not be established. Partner could not be contacted at the given network address."

At the moment only our Telkom LTE customers (and our office that use it) seems to be affected.

We've called TeamViewer yesterday and they said that they had lot of complaints from other customers on Telkom LTE links experiencing the same problem.

Is anyone else struggling with this too? If so, do you know what's going on? Also, who do I report this to? I imagine that Telkom's Mobile Helpdesk is not going to be very useful in resolving this.

Same here. This morning no luck either and Telkom really don't know Teamviewer. Had the same experience when calling them yesterday. It seems to be a routing issue though.

Yes seems like Telkom has blocked it on their side but there is a work around.

People have used a socks proxy (from a vps) and works 100%..

Using metro ethernet, and Teamviewer absolutely refuses to.

Switching back to IS ADSL resolves the issue.

I don't think they've intentionally blocked it. More likely they done network upgrades and in the process broken it...

I have logged a service request and tried my best to explain what TeamViewer is and why it's important to Telkom.

We have also let them know via Facebook, I suppose now we wait and hope it gets sorted. If everyone can please report this problem, the more that do it obviously the better and faster chance if it being fixed.

Thanks!

Same issue here. We have Telkom LTE at the office and Telkom LTE at home and no connections. However we can connect fine as soon as we move off of the Telkom network on both sides (IS).

This is the response from Teamviewer. They actually don't know how difficult this will be to get done..

Thanks for contacting us. We have heard from a number of users in South Africa yesterday and today, all of whom are customers of Telkom and who are having trouble connecting with TeamViewer. Our own technicians have investigated this and have confirmed that the issue lies with Telkom, not with TeamViewer. The problem only appears to exist when you are trying to make a connection to another Telkom user, but if you make a connection to a remote computer that is outside of Telkom's network, it will work fine.

Can you chase the matter up with Telkom again? Try to escalate it higher with them, eg. to their 2nd Level or 3rd Level Support team if you can.
