Hi all,

So Telkom decided to "install" my self-install DSL yesterday after waiting 4 weeks.

Do I need the software for the modem? I read on another thread the that 200 VWR software cd from Telkom was useful.

I configured the router through 10.0.0.2 and it connected, but I am not sure it is syncing with the exchange.

How can I see it is syncing and at what speed?

Regards

Thanks,

Got it synced this morning. Apparently the vwr 200 takes a very long time before syncing, few minutes. I gave up to quick the first time.

Please tell me how I can determine the sync speed.

Also,

I have the following WAN settings:

Description PPPoE WAN Link
VPI 8
VCI 35

These correct?

Some stats:

SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer
MTU = 1452
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings.
MSS = 1412
MSS is not optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU value.
Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 66560
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 8 bits (scale factor: 2^8=256)
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 260

In Windows 7 Beta, unless "TCP/IP Auto-Tuning" is disabled, only the Current TCP Window is displayed. Use the SG Vista TCP/IP patch instead of the TCP Optimizer for automatic tweaking.
RWIN is not fully optimized (even though it is a comparatively large number). The unscaled RWIN value is lower than it should be. Also, RWIN being close to and above 65535 does not justify the header overhead of enabling TCP 1323 Options. You might want to use one of the recommended RWIN values below.
