Telkom mobile data bundles now last much longer

Telkom has announced that its mobile customers across all plans can now transfer data to other users.

This makes Telkom the first mobile network in South Africa to enable data transfer in accordance with ICASA's end-user subscriber rules, said the company.

Its a good start, but this is cause for concern:

Telkom said that implementing these new mobile data rules ensures customers who buy smaller bundles (25MB-500MB) will have greater benefits.

The company said that 25MB to 500MB prepaid data bundles will now last 6 months. The validity period of bundles larger than 500MB was not specified, and MyBroadband has asked Telkom for feedback on the matter.

The 25MB to 500MB data bundles are the biggest ripoff, with the largest margins for Telkom, its very problematic.

The validity period of Data should be 6 Months for all data under 25 Gigs.
More than 25 Gigs should be 12 Months.

Agreed ! Sneaky move from Telkom by offering you 25mb - 500mb for 6 Months.
It wont even last 6 days.

Telkom do have good data bundles on the *123# Mo-Nice Offer.

Hope they will offer Better expiry times to Mo Nice Offers.

This is wonderful for poor people who just use WhatsApp a few times a day and for m2m - but keep it quiet
It's probably not the most relevant for the usual mybroadand huge torrenting, give me loads of nighttime data, kind of users. But there we go, you lot have monice!

Has anyone tried transferring data between SIMs? The USSD menu doesn't offer the option and the Telkom app just gives an error

Please help me, I don’t see anything lower that 10gb available on the Telkom app for R249 and these only last 1 month (LTE)? I can’t use the LIT data packages as they don’t allow you to download emails etc. Even the LIT data only lasts 1 month??
