Telkom Mobile here in 2010

Sorry, Reuben September, you have got it all wrong, Telkom can't handle the fixed line industry properly, giving many people grief, why on earth would we want to leave the tried and trusted mobile operators to swap to Telkom Mobile?

And what does this article have that the previous one didn't?

So this spells the end of Vodacom has we know it? Telkom can't have Vodacom and Telkom Mobile right?

Will this be a local version of the Nigerian MultiLinks saga? Isn't the cellular space already over-saturated with four players? Hasn't Telkom already proven that it lacks the brains to successfully compete outside of a virtual Monopoly?

The best thing that can happen will be Telkom seriously undercutting the established players and starting a price war but I don't see that happening.

Anyone know who will be the CEO of this business division..................................Alan knott by any chance??

Mmmmm I think the guy that ripped off South African with the telecom pricing was a white guy ............ his name is Alan Knott Craig. If anything Telkom mobile will be great for South Africa, they cannot launch a network with high prices, so they will def come in cheap forcing all the others to drop there rates, all in all the customers score's!

Howard, take some time out and think about it........dont hurt yourself though, maybe draw pictures to help!

Agreed.

My concern is with the MTN roaming agreement fineprint. I doubt MTN would have agreed to it if they didn't have guarantees that Telkom wouldn't come in and undercut them too badly. It always comes down to anti-competitive practices.

I hope I'm wrong though.

Imagine that, Telkom was part shareholder in Vodacom, they break off ties and then partner with the competition MTN, Vodacom guys must surely be pi$$ed. I hope it creates a turf war, and they just drop prices to compete with each other and prove a point.

PS: this happened in Uganda, between 6 - 7 operators and now they have prob the most cheapest call rates in the world :D
