On my Huawei p20 when scanning I see TelkomSA and 65505.65502 is Telkoms own network TelkomSA. 65505 is the network ID Vodacom towers broadcast and it also identifies as TelkomSA. So manually switching would be hard because they use the exact same name. I think Telkom set it to prefer it's own network first.

On my Huawei B315 when scanning I see TelkomSA and TelkomSA-R.
I can manually select either, when looking at the diagnostic report on the router it shows
TelkomSA (65502)
TelkomSA-R (65505)
This roaming agreement won't support seemless handover like the Cell C/MTN setup, if it is implemented like this.
Funny 65505 shows the roaming symbol for me, I have to turn data roaming on, on my B315 to connect, it is not showing as a home network. It's not as seamless as Rain and Vodacom where the Rain towers broadcast the exact same network id as Vodacom. Telkom went with another route and not sure why though but on my Samsung both show as TelkomSA so I think they are still sorting it out. I think they went with the different network IDs to prevent roaming where Telkom has coverage setting the sim to prefer 65502 and if no network it connects to 65502. They way I see this is there will still be a dropped call moving from 65502 to 65505 even though the phone will pick up both as a "home" network.
This is going to bad when you are using your phone for voice calls, as with cellc you can drive and MTN roaming works flawlessIt's not as seamless as Rain and Vodacom where the Rain towers broadcast the exact same network id as Vodacom. Roaming on Vodacom still does not seem to be active in Cape Town
I've been roaming on MTN for years and am worried about losing that soon.
Cannot connect to any other network besides Telkom and MTN (3G). I see VODACOM, RAIN and CellC; also some 655*** number, but cannot connect to them on using my phone (iPhone X).
MTN roaming is to end tomorrow night.
Telkom has not sent any messages out to this effect which is surprising.
I have yet to see Vodacom roaming in Cape Town
This is really bad. On all my devices at home it just shows TelkomSA. I can already see a lot of people calling the call center. Why is my data not working I am on telkomsa. Modems that keep switching over. When you drive and it falls over to a vodacom tower and never goes back to telkom tower even when you have signal. It really depends on the device but it should show 2 TelkomSA when you do a net work search. One will obviously be Telkoms own network and one Vodacom.
Some devices do add a -R to the vodacom one and that is probably because the network id of 65505 does not match the one stored on the actual sim.
MTN roaming still works for now.

Cellc made it that all their bundles work on roaming and non roaming towers.
