Telkom Mobile Speed, Disconnections & Coverage Problems – click here first!

590kbps on a speed test tonight.

PE area. Anyone else got a dog slow connection?

Gaskoon. I've had this consistently every night for the past 4 days.

It seems to be fine the following morning.

Edit - Its happening again tonight. It starts around 7:30 every night. It was completely fine during the day.

Anyone else in Pta North (or the rest of Pretoria for that matter) having issues with Telkom?
My fixed LTE at home and my Telkom mobile sim in my phone are near useless. It's gotten to the point where I switched off my data sim and loaded a data bundle on to my Cell C sim (dual sim phone). Was still mostly fine on and just before the 1st Jan.

Down from the 20 - 40 mbps I would get usually.

Are these values within acceptable "good" limits? Signal indicator shows full 5 bars

Nope, you are not alone. Last 4 days my speed avg is about 3mbps. I tried to contact Telkom but the support was no help at all and said I need to reboot and wait 30 minutes. There must be some sort of problem with the tower?

I was told the same thing, and when I said I did, I was told to do a factory reset. I'm thinking I don't really want to do that, because the setup and ports and stuff I need is a right ball-ache to do over. (okay, it isn't but I'm lazy). Thing is, I doubt it would make much of a difference, I'd only really be making extra work for myself.

I did a factory reset (not much to setup) and it did nothing. So I have no idea how to get Telkom to check the towers.

Spoke to Telkom again. Was told to log the fault via Mweb, which I did. So guess we will have to wait and see

They called me back on Saturday morning, much to my surprise. After a long conversation and much back and forth, the lady at the call centre logged a fault and I have my reference number, so I guess now we wait.

Knowing Telkom it can take a few days up to a few weeks. Ordered a Rain 4G sim to see how their 4G is compared to Telkom's. If it is any good I am going to scale down the Telkom to only use between 6 -11 pm.

I have the same problem here in Port Elizabeth. I have videos that I used to show off my LTE speeds. It was always over 90mbps.
Then is started to drop to around 40mbps and from a month ago I can only get about 12mbps.
Today is the worse ever. I got 2.4mbps. Really Telkom????? what the heck man!!!!!!!

The problem is that it is not only Telkom. I got myself a Rain sim. The closest Rain tower is 300m from my home and I have NEVER got any speed faster than 5mbps and that's even with an outside antenna.

These ISP take us all for a ride. I think it's time we get Carte Blanche in to investigate what is going on.

Seen an increase in speed here in Pta North. I am cautiously optimistic as it is not the speed we had before, but this is much better than the 1-2 mbps we've received that last 10 days
