Is Telkom Mobile's APN unrestricted?

Struggling to remotely access DVR at home that is connected to a Huawei router which connects to the Internet using Telkom Mobile.

The time i needed unrestricted apn i had to call in to mtn vodacom and cellc to have it activated. Only one of the three providers were able to do it for me successfully, one said they would but it just never worked and cellc if i remeber did not even know what i was talking about.

Isn't TM's APN unrestricted by default?
What is your external IP when connected? If you connect with router, you can see it under router status, if it is with dongle, ipconfig would show you.
You can compare the result by google-ing "what is my ip"

If it is a public ip, then it is routable, and you shouldn't have problems.

On MTN you need to request them to enable MyVPN, and then the APN stay the same, maybe Telkom work the same way

I agree with the Cell C comment. I spend hours with tech dept on the phone with them, they didn't have that feature (network not designed that way)(was 2 years ago, maybe they changed)

My IP address according to the router status/information in the router settings page matches the IP that is seen by a site like www.canyouseeme.org

I have setup port forwarding and a DDNS on the router. However when I check if those ports are open and working using www.canyouseeme.org not a single port is working/open.

So......logged onto http://chat1.8ta.com and asked them to call me. Spoke to an agent who I asked directly if port forwarding is supporting by Telkom Mobile. She couldnt answer me and forwarded my call to the "data" division which I assume is the technical guys. This guy told me straight and without any sort of hesitation that port forwarding is not supported by Telkom Mobile at all.

Any comment?

Can you ping your router from external client?

Can you do a test with port 80 forwarded to the dvr, maybe put the DVR ip in the DMZ and do tests then

Telkom rep on this section claimed that Telkom 'internet' apn is unrestricted. It was confirmed working on prepaid. However it was before Telkom announced unlimited LTE contracts. T&C of these contracts say by example that they don't allow operate Web servers on unlimited connection. It means that not only they may block ports for incomming traffic, but also the may alter http output or block https connection. Some people reported that Telkom is filtering outgoing HTML tags and clients from outside receive just a plain text.

We need Telkom clarification on the issue.
