Telkom Nightmare, seeking advice

Back in Jan of this year I requested a Telkom line to be installed so that I could get ADSL, 2.5 months (middle of March) the line finally gets installed, only for me to find out that I can only make calls and not revieve them.

After a few days luckily Telkom had this problem sorted and I went ahead and requested and ADSL line from Afrihost. Literally 24 hours later I find out that when someone tries to call me the line just rings...without the phone ringing.

So I put in another fault request with Telkom, the technician came out, did something and now the line is totally dead, I cant make or receive calls, and I never heard from them again. Now everyday I need to phone in to Telkom to get an update of what's going on but no one is able to tell me. Every time the call centre agent just "makes a note" of the problem and that's it.

I really don't know what else I can do, all I'm asking for is some basic level of service, I just want someone to tell me what's wrong with my line???
 
Telkom seems to be the new Eskom lately.

Thx for Jacqui's email, I have the same problem line's been dead for 2 months and no-one at Telkom seems to care.

Please feel free to leave any other Telkom email addresses here, I'll email them all if I have to.
 
MickeyD posted the address of the CEO, Brian Armstrong. I've mailed him a couple of times already!! Seems to work well. Not sure I'm allowed to post his email addie. Will let MickeyD if he see's fit...
 
When you eventually get your line back dial 101999 and listen to the voice readback of your telephone number. Seems like your initial problem was somebody else's line routed to your place.

Edit: To add to that they may have given you the wrong number and when you are reporting it, the techs are sent to the wrong place.

Rather send a PM to TelkomZA

Sour milk has more use than the TelkomZA rep. I have had 0 help from him. I've requested a new line on the Telkom website 5 times. Had NO call backs. I only have a cellphone, so now I need to use up all my free minutes trying to get through to the call center.

Service delivery is a myth in South Africa.
