So, going here: http://www.telkom.co.za/wholesale-web/products-and-services/interest-register.jsp
... you get to fill in a form to see if you get VDSL (20 or 40 Mbps), and if you don't have it they tell you that "don't be so sad, at least you get X Mbps in your area". Here's what the site told a collegue of mine. Telkom, please, when you code the site, don't just do the HTML, go look how it looks in the browser too... it's the first step of testing, and it's really important <sarcasm="off"/>

Oops, your area is currently not enabled for the Super-Fast Broadband.

But don't worry, we have registered your interest for planning purposes and will endeavour to enable your area soonest.

Remember, it is possible for you to order broadband services up to 0Mbps right now while you wait for the higher speeds to be available.

Thanks Telkom, for always reminding me that my own little world can always be worse!

Your colleague is not alone, I also got that exact same message, up to 0Mbps, while I currently have 10Mbps line.

Might be that there are no open ports on the relevant IMAX/DSLAM.

Everyone should just register their interest so we all can get 20meg capability in our area, even if we don't use it.
