Telkom set for massive restructuring

Headline for June 2018:

Telkom plans to merge the four separate business units into one company, giving each greater autonomy, Bloomberg reported.

Yup, it all depends on what the CEO feels he should be managing.

Stripping the profitable components out so the zuptas can own them.

Well if the service wasnt bad enough, they now going to do this... Pray that my internet never ever breaks again lol, because i can see many frustrated customers

Here's what I don't get about Telkom. How do they as a State Owned Company manage to do as as they see fit to improve their business including restructuring? Even if you don't agree with their vision, give Jabu Mabuza and Sipho Maseko credit that they somehow convinces government to leave them alone to run as a private business and not a state capturing target. If only this was also possible at Eskom, SAA, Transnet, SABS, <add all other SOCs here>

Because while being a SOE and having exemption from quite few clauses in the PFMA applicable to SOEs, they are a listed company complying to the Companies Act.

And no, it has nothing to do with the two stooges you mention either. All this was in place before the new brand of CEOs took over. They can only claim credit for messing up Telkom.

This sounds like the "Radical Economic Transformation" that was announced by the new minister of finance a while back. No wonder Trevor Noah had so much of his sketches based on the great original content provided by government leaders and their related entities.
