Anybody reached their 20GB that will kick in the soft-capped service from Telkom that started this month.
Im standing on 7GB so far but realy idling the line not knowing what speed limit will be imposed.
Normy you had the 30GB local that had no limit as backup for downloads
Any volunteers for this :D

Some are reporting 384kbps speeds after hitting their caps.

It says 40gb oob

In-bundle 20.0 GB
Connection 1 421.8 MB Refreshed @12:17
TopUp 0.0 MB
Total 20.0 GB
Used Data 5.3 GB
Remaining Data:
In-bundle or TopUp 14.7 GB
Out-of-bundle 0.0 MB (limit 40.0 GB)

I would realy hate it if my line drops to 384 as im used to 10Mbps

Okay so we can expect a speed drop at 40GB or does it start the throttle at 20GB and cutoff at 40GB?

No, the capped 20gb service now has a softcap, meaning they cap your speed and not so much your data. but with that noted limit of 40gb, it seems its not so soft afterall :) just delayed and made very painful by the speedcap.

Not only that but I used to have 10GB more even if it was just local it was at full speed.
Please if someone reaches 20GB let us know what is hapening

That's not what the 40GB means. Once you hit the 20 gig cap you have three option available to you. You can top up, auto top up (with 40gigs being the maximum amount) or softcap. The softcap goes at roughly 384kbps and is not related to the 40 gig limit.

Torrents

Since this softcap was implemented on Friday it seems I cannot download any torrents?

Trackers seems to be timing out. Anyone else have this issue. Or maybe have a suggestion on how to get this sorted?

i'm on 1MB uncapped, and my torrents are DEAD!
wats happening man?

Max speed on a torrent is 2.7 kB/s? When I switch over to Afrihost I get full speed on a 4 meg line. WTF?

I have used about half of my 20Gig allocation but sometimes it flies, othertimes I crawls. Seems like the switch to whoever they are now using means that they throttle you no matter what. Probably worse once you have reached your soft cap. This is frustrating, especially when you had a fast line... what is the point in paying extra when my speeds match a 4meg at most... I HAD a 10meg connection.

I have yet to be able to do a speedtest... it fails the whole time...

Apparently they are doing their big upgrade to their new network this week. Dont be surprised by a few oddities along the way. I'm reserving my judgement until they have put us on their new network.
