To be stable on 8Mbps you need no more than a 42dB downstream attenuation on the router/line, if it goes over 42dB then the line will become unstable.
42dB will mean you are +-3km from the exchange.
Point is you can now call your ISP and upgrade to a 4meg package.
@Dragon_void Hi, it is currently in the process of being upgraded, will test and advise at the soonest. ^RI
Your problem there is the noise margin and not the line attenuation.
Tried my luck on the telkom twitter page...![]()

So I gave Telkom a call last night and they did a profile reset. Now I'm on a 4 meg line (2 meg OW gold account).
speedtest shows 3.57 up, woohoo!![]()

WOW & ROFL = Those Noise is terrible, 3.8dB is not good at all.
SNR (Noise Table):
6dB or below is very bad and will experience no synch or intermittent synch problems
7dB-10dB is fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions
11dB-20dB is good with little or no sync problems
20dB-28dB is excellent
29dB or above is outstanding
Your line attenuation is not that bad on the other hand, just that Noise, you should get Telkom to check out your line.
Now just contact OW to update you to 4mb data plan
You in DBN?
