Telkom Speed upgrades

I'm currently paying R299pm for the 2M gold:
R299 for 4M adsl rental (telkom)
R299 for 2M gold account (OW)
R157 analogue line (telkom)
total R755 pm :erm:

I see OW has a standard 4M account for R295, but since I'm getting decent speeds, I'm going to stay on this account for now.
 
The ADSL Checker says that my line is upgraded to 2mbps. My router sync at 1mbps. I phoned Telkom and the lady told me that the line is already upgraded but it is still syncing at 1mbps. (Exactly what I told her)

She says Telkom is still in the process of syncing the lines and that can take another week.

So I said thank you very much and hung up because I knew if I didn't do that I'm going to pop a vain and ask her wtf is she doing behind her desk.

Anyone else that could help me out here? It doesn't look like it is easy to get hold of TelkomZA on the forums.

the 1st guy didnt understand and went on with useless crap..

the 2nd time i phoned them i get bumped

so just relax and try again and get mad again cuz of the long holding :P

I spent 45mins only hold for accounts to be told i need to speak to downgrades, then gave up when holding for downgrades after the next 1hour went by. SIGH at Telkom

I sent TelkomZA a pm yesterday no idea when he'll respond.
Currently im paying for a 10mb, my exchange says only 4mb is possible so i want to downgrade. Is there an easier way than phoning telkom or trying to get TelkomZA to respond?

Maybe I was lucky, my first call got me upgraded.
Next time you call, tell them that you understand that Telkom are in the process and you've received confirmation that your area has been updated and you needed a profile update ;)

Tell the guys phoning for upgrades to stop phoning so that you can get through!
 
Even if you just ask for a port reset the speed gets bumped up.
 
Second time lucky.

The lady told me that she see on the system that my line is 2mb but the finals upgrades will be done on the 28th in my area but she will do it manually for me. So running at 2mb now. Now just have to phone MWeb to change my package to 2mb.

I called yesterday and downgraded my 4meg line to 2meg. My exchange also only supports 4Mbps.
My speed is still at 4Mbps. Maybe they will just downgrade my account and leave the speed as is.

Maybe they downgraded you to 2Mbps, and then Telkom upgraded you with their 2Mbps->4Mbps thing, so you're now paying R299pm for your 4Mbps? ;)
 
Called Telkom few minutes ago. Told them my account, according to Do.co.za is 2mbps, but router synch is 1mbps. Telkom rep said it will automatically change over before Feb next year, then she changed her mind and upped me from 1mbps to 2mbps straight away, lol. I'm in Pietermaritzburg. All working :)

Which exchange are you on haven't seen any upgrades here and on loop street one?
 
synching at 4096 !! was moved from the Kensington exchange snr a bit low but holding just above 7 so I should be ok in normal conditions :)

Hey bro, no idea which exchange I'm on but I'm in Woodlands. My phone number DSL status changed on the Do website yesterday. Before it was on 1mbps.

I attached a screenshot. Still shows "Maximum speed available in your area - 1mbps" for some reason. Its on 2mbps now though, as I'm getting +- 200k download speeds.
