Thanks MickeyD, I've seen them before but I don't think they answer my question. Those tables show Telkom Internet data prices and bundles. I'm just looking for the line rental. Unless I'm not looking correctly?

2 meg will get the current 1 meg price, 4 meg the current 2 meg price and 10 meg will get the current 4meg price.
An important thing to note is that if you currently have a 4 meg line and are on an ATM exchange then you will stay on 4 meg until your exchanged to run on metro ethernet.

@MickeyD, so I can ignore the first table's heading? Cos that makes me think that it only applies to Telkom Uncapped Internet. When I add VAT, it does actually make sense and add up. So I guess it will be around R299. Thanks

I would assume it would be in the month when your account is upgraded.
So ADSL rental (not ISP portion) should be:
up to 2048kbps - R165
up to 4096kbps - R299
up to 10Mbps - R425
Plus the tax of R157 for the telephone line

Yip, on a 1Mbps account.
Was just wondering as I know Telkom ADSL and Telkom Internet are separate divisions, so if Telkom ADSL is bumping up the exchange speed, was hoping Telkom Internet would do the same.
Looks like Telkom Internet also announced speed increased so it would happen automatically

no date though, unless i read it wrong. thinking about upgrading and then whenever they upgrade just get charged less. who knows when the upgrades will happen. what kind of speeds will you get with a 2mb data package and a 4mb line?

I've been on 4mb and my exchange only supports 4?

No. Your exchange needs to be running on Metro Ethernet, currently its on ATM. Better yet, it would need to be replaced by an MSAN or ISAM, in which case you can get 40meg

http://www.telkom.co.za/checkadsl/ but it really isn't accurate.
In the same boat, if not (which I'm guessing will be the case) do we need to give notice before we "drop" our line to what it currently is so we can save some bucks?
