Problem is, even if they drop it by 50% its still too expensive and over-capped, but a few extra ronds in the pocket is always welcome.

even if they only drop it R50 its still R50 less than the month before, would be nice if they can introduce like 2048k line at 680 and then drop each one down a bracket like 1024k becomes 470 pm and 512k becomes whatever the 386k is at now and 192k, seriously can get rid of that hehe

I don't the think the 192k will ever be priced the same or lower than ISDN. They will protect the ISDN market for as long as they possibly can.

oh so typical - Telkom just Far+ed

We allready know its only going to be a minor improvement, i'm so not getting my hopes up! maybe then if its really that fantastic, i'll be shocked... NOT.

About Telkom price reduction:

"So come up to the lab..... and see what's on the slab...... I can see you shiver in antici..........pation."

its about time, i wonder if this is a result of economies of scale or an actual attempt by telkom to take a cut in profits for a larger market share before the SNO can establish itself...

the latter seems unlikely

Me thinks someone is expecting to get roasted at the ADSL colloquium and is trying to look good.

/spit

I was thinking the other day that Telkom had probably had all these plans and price-cuts neatly laid out YEARS ago, just waiting for the day that the SNO was close enough for them to get some brownie points out of their goodwill gestures and prevent the masses of people from abandoning them.

I'm leaving anyway, as soon as I can. The words: "I hate you Telkom" just don't quite manage to describe just how I really feel...

Juice

It will be nice if they do away with double line rental but somehow I don't think they will do this.

He says Telkom will also announce that it will bundle discounted voice telephony products with its broadband solutions
I don't want to get discounts on Telkom's Closer products just because I am a broadband subscriber. I agree with ic. The whole point of broadband is that you can use VOIP.

It will more likely be an overall increase if they bundle voice products, as they have a monthly charge for that as well.

Something like a R50 decrease but a compulsory voice bundle at R150 will be an effective R100 increase.

*yawn*

I don't believe this. If this is yet more talk, then shame on them. But should they start slashing their prices, then I'll sit up and take notice.

Maybe Hell froze over due to the recent cold weather we've experienced in Gauteng? :D

Maybe we'll see green fluorescent flying piggie-wiggies soon? :D

Well they have more than paid for their equipment and rollout costs just from the ADSL line rental, so anything they make from here on in would likely be pure profit. Their aim is always rapid ROI, so same could go for SAT3. They have probably made many times what they paid for the thing so if competition heats up they can just keep cutting and cutting and cutting.

Pretty scary if one thinks about it..

The taxpayer paid for SAT-3, not Telkom.
Anyhoo, waitiing to see what Wally dishes up around the end of March'ish.
