It's all good and well but it's not like I can do anything with it :p Just means the ISPs can't blame my line when the internet is slow

Hi guys

I'm currently on 20Mbps VDSL and would love to have a faster upload speed than 2Mbps. My download speed is perfect for me (I could upgrade to 40Mbps if I wanted) it's the upload that would really help a lot, even 5Mbps instead of 2Mbps. I'd love to be able to stream my gaming properly.

Will upload my line stats when I get home :)

The only reason I'm on 40Mbit over 20Mbit is for the extra 1Mbit of upload bandwidth. 3Mbit is still too low though :(

Personally for my use I can't justify the price difference between 20Mbit and 40Mbit for that 1Mbit difference in upload speed. The download speed is more than enough for me, it's just the darn upload speed that is so limiting.

Yep, it's a bit steep but that 1Mbit extra helps a lot actually, mainly for my Plex server.

This was yesterday;

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 20479 kbps 961 kbps
Line Attenuation 11.5 db 8.7 db
Noise Margin 10.6 db 12.2 db

You sure you're on VDSL? Looks more like ADSL2+, which would explain your upload speed as maximum upload speed on Telkom ADSL is 1Mbit.

I've used both a VDSL and ADSL modem recently.
The VDSL blew so I'm currently using ADSL but the line stats have not changed at all.
That's why I'm confused.

I contacted CW about this as well even after the VDSL modem as I noticed no difference.

If your line is syncing on an ADSL modem then you can't be on VDSL afaik. I think you're most likely on 20Mbps ADSL 2+ and thats why your upload speed is limited to 1Mbit.

Your line has to physically be set up on a VDSL profile by Telkom to get VDSL. Once this is done you cannot use a non-VDSL modem as it just won't work. This means you were never on VDSL and have always just been on ADSL2+ 20Mbit.

And this.

Not according to Telkom.
CW contacted them multiple times and they said that if I am on 20Mb speeds then I am on VDSL.

DRJohn - I have contacted Crystalweb multiple times regarding this.

It can be a real mission getting moved over to VDSL. You'll need to speak to someone that knows what they're talking about. As DrJohn says it would not be possible for you to sync with an ADSL modem if you are on VDSL.

You've probably dealt with agents that don't know that 20Mbit ADSL 2+ is now offered by Telkom.

I think you're right.
That was my original suspicion to be fair.
