Telkom VDSL: Pathetic Upload Bandwidth

Do you guys not get that this is how the technology works (Non stern tone)? For more upload you need to sacrifice download. That's how the technology works. The speeds that they've chosen for upload are the optimal for download. Aparently upload and download are not indirectly proportional. I.e: sacrificing 1mbps of download is not going to get you 1mbps of upload (it'll give you less actually).

What technology are you talking about exactly?

Because VDSL2 itself, which Telkom uses, is capable of much higher speeds as seen in other countries:

Belgacom has rolled out Alcatel-Lucent VDSL2 equipment in 21,000 street cabinets (Q3-2012) with more than 1,000,000 VDSL2 customers (Q3-2012). Belgacom also provides VDSL2 to smaller enterprises. Line speeds go up to 70 Mbit/s downstream and 6 Mbit/s upstream. Digital TV service Belgacom TV is delivered over this VDSL2 platform.
VDSL2 is offered since June 2013 only by a smaller telecom H1 Telekom in urban areas. Speeds go from 20/2 to 50/15 Mbit/s. It's also available in triple play packages that include TV and telephone. However, internet-only packages are not available: customers have to get it with phone service.
Elion launched VDSL2-based business services in 2010. Current packages include 10/5, 20/5, 20/10 and 30/10. From May 1, 2013, VDSL2 is also offered to private customers with speed 30/10.
Saunalahti was to provide VDSL2 in December 2006 to small area as a pilot project, but was delayed until further notice due to low firmware satisfaction. In 2010 Saunalahti/Elisa provides VDSL2 subscriptions to some specific areas. An example: Elisa product with bundled IPTV services and 100/10 Mbit/s VDSL2 connection.

I could go on... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_VDSL_and_VDSL2_deployments

Well then that must only apply to ADSL which people complain mostly about not having better upload speeds. It is an Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line after all

Considering we're talking about vdsl?

And considering most of the people that complain have ADSL?

But this is not about ADSL.
The ppl complaining in this thread have VDSL.

And with that in mind, our uploads are horribly slow.

Yeah. I get that. I was wrong. ADSL is different but we aren't talking about ADSL here. I just thought that since ADSL and VDSL use the same communication medium that they'd both have that limitation.

Wonder if there is any development from Telkom on the VDSL upload speeds?

Nice - the download sync speed of a client's VDSL has been increased to 45Mbps:

============================================================================
VDSL Port Details Upstream Downstream
Line Rate: 3.129 Mbps 45.147 Mbps
Actual Net Data Rate: 3.072 Mbps 45.055 Mbps
Trellis Coding: ON ON
SNR Margin: 21.3 dB 7.1 dB
Actual Delay: 4 ms 8 ms
Transmit Power: - 0.5 dBm 14.5 dBm
Receive Power: -18.1 dBm -5.1 dBm
Actual INP: 2.0 symbols 3.0 symbols
Total Attenuation: 17.6 dB 19.7 dB
Attainable Net Data Rate: 10.403 Mbps 60.345 Mbps

Please Telkom increase the useless 3MBps upload limit!!!
