On occasion I may have been heard to make disparaging remarks about Telkom's service, but I believe that they are now due a plaudit.
Some time ago I noticed that the cover on the distribution box attached to the pole in my garden had disappeared. I duly reported the problem and a guy pitched up one morning and replaced said cover.
This morning my ADSL line went down, so I picked up the phone to call 0800375375 and there wasn't a dial tone.
I looked out my window and noticed a Telkom guy up the pole working on the wiring. When i investigated I was told that they were replacing the box in order to prevent future problems.
Even better, was when he asked if I needed to use the phone urgently and I told him that my ADSL had gone down, he got me up and running immediately.
I noticed that the pole at the other end of property also had a new box.
Now that's the kind of service I would like to come to expect in all their divisions.
