ok, so i'm on telkoms 5gb int and 20gb local plan...

now my int normally lasts about half the month, then i go gung ho on the local for the rest of the month... this month something strange happened. I was on my 6th day on local bandwidth, and at 4.8ish gigs according to the useage stats from telkom... then the next day my email usage stats showed that i was 60 gigs over the limit... the next day, 80 and now almost 100gb

all this in the space of a week... I've emailed them to ask what's up three times, but no reply... and if the info on the site is correct i owe hem R1400.00...

wtf?

Yeah that much data on a 384kbps line in 24hrs is just not possible. Have you looked on the TI-Tracker page at the audit log to see that all connections were coming from your house, should be pretty easy to tell, I am no longer with Telkom to recall the exact option but it is on the main usage page bottom right titled "Audit something". I am guessing the 1st thing Telkom will probably tell you to do is change your password as someone has found out what it is and is using the a/c.

Oh, I would say - Easy on the international porn ! It helps your wallet by the end of the month :D Ok Ok Telkom has a problem . . .

Read the other threads, Telkom's tracker has been borked for most of Oct.

ok, cool cool... phew... I was crappining myself cause i slept listening to streaming radio that night, so i woke up like huh? and for a second i thought it was my streaming audio, but i always stream stuff, audio at least, found a nice economical stream... bbc iplayer... so telkom gtot problems this month... that still doesn't explain why they haven't acknowledged the messages i've sent them...

Sorry to say this but you will be charged for this. They don't charge for going over international but local they do.

Someone must have stolen your username and password, change it and see if the usage stops.

its the broken T tracker even on 4-10 meg line you cant get 75 gigs in 24 hours that i know of

so don't try scare him :P

Sigh. I swear people cannot search/read. I'm also fairly confident that this is not the last thread we'll have on this talked-to-the-grave-already topic. :erm:
Check your usage audit - check if the port where the account were used changes at all. If it did.... contact telkom.

I'm not trying to scare him. It says on the tracker's page that you will be billed R15 a gig for local bandwidth if you exceed what you are given.

yeah well i hear you guys on that... but then my question is why hasn't telkom contacted me back yet? why have they not responded to my emails?

I spent two and a half hours on hold yesterday, only to be cut off. ?If i diodn't know any better, i'd say telkom know they screwed up, but being the greedy lowlifew punks they are (and wanting additional startup capital for their mobile operation) they gonna bill me for nothing... I spoke to my mate overseas who does hosting radio stations and stuff, and he said i should refuse to pay... If they take me court, I'll win for the simple reason that it's physically impossible, and also because even their audit page fails to show where the bandwidth went to...

aha, but i canm prove using pure maths n science that i couldn't have used that bandwidth... also their stats fails to show where it was used and by which ip... cause i can see the two ip's they showing, which are both in the house, i've logged them countless times on my sites, etc...

and their audit doesn't mention the extra 90+ gb...

i've emailed abuse n support... I know they got the messages, cause otherwise i would have recieved the failure message almost instantly

and now if i'm gonna be billed, surely they could inform me of that by email, cause i've asked them more than once what is gonna happen, if they can't be bothered to confirm i owe them, they obviously don't really want the money do they? R1400 isn't exactly easy to suck outta thin air at the last moment... I?'ve been enquiring daily since the 26th... as someone who owes R1400 on a connection that costs under 500 a month, surely I should be a priority to ensure that i understand how much i owe and make plans to pay on time...

ok, i notice that on second checking the audit trail conviniently leaves out the days when my bandwidth was going crazy... ie: it doesn't show the 24th, 25th or 26th... which is when i supposedly used the 100gb roughly... after the mail on 24th but before mail on 25th my report claims i went from 15 gb left to 63gb over, however the weekly audit trail shows nothing on these days... Almost like someone deleted records...
(Motive: they want money, evidence: fishy audit trail, my conclusion: this is deliberate, they ignoring my emails cause they know if they stall for a bit, the bill comes...)
Does this sound fishy to you?
