DNS.I recently ran into a similar problem with a Telkom email address which had been ported to an iGen\Herotel Fibre account.
Not one of the 'known' smtp servers (smtp.telkomsa.net; smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net; smtp.saix.net; smtp.uls.co.za [now redundant]; webmail.telkomsa.net) would send.
In desperation I replaced the outgoing server name with it's IP address (196.43.0.142) and this worked!
If anyone has an explanation for this I'd love to hear it
