Hi telkomza I am still waiting for my line to be sorted it will soon be 2 months of waiting last time u said line was clear so what could the problem be if I'm still experiencing the same problem
 
I struggle to get replies from TekomZA on my adsl line request, really not in the mood to phone during work hours.

Even when I use twitter I get a reply days later?

A rep called me twice , once for me to fill out forms and such, the other to create password etc.
And then nothing for 2 weeks.
No ref number or order number.

There's something wrong at my exchange. I have rather specific details and test results (port allocation, packet loss, locations of contention, etc) that I obviously cannot give to call centre techies as they will have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. Is there any way to get hold of a more advanced support? The network engineers, or something? I PM'ed TelkomZA but no reply since Monday :(

EDIT: A few years ago there used to be a 0800 number that got you through to the network engineers. They usually didn't deal with the public but they didn't mind doing so. Don't know if a number like that still exists?

I applied for a Simple Plus upgrade.After a 6 week delay the order was cancelled because the destination was too far from the exchange to support the 4meg line.I changed my order to upgrade the data only.
I then did a check with the availability checker.The result was the maximum support for my area was 4meg and my current service speed was 2meg.
My query is this why is there a difference between the consultant and the software checker?

Trying to get a TPLink TD-8840T working.

Can get the ADSL light on, but no Internet light.

Using the same username/password that I used on my previous Netgear DGN2200, same VPI and VCI settings.
Can really use some help.

PS: DGN2200 taken out by a surge that came through the line/again.. (3rd time). So went with a standalone TPLink ADSL router (TD-8840T) this time and a stand alone WIFI unit TPLink (Archer C7), this way if i loose the router it's R300 and not R1600 for a Router/Wifi combo, also invested in a 600VA UPS with a surge protector to try and keep everything safe.

Hi Telkom. I recall reading an article not too long ago where Telkom was investigating increasing the minimum adsl speed from 2mbps to 4mbps. Is this still on the roadmap?

PM sent.
Almost a week now that ADSL goes down between 8am-5pm. Line gets restored between 5pm-8am - very strange.
Voice line has been problematic - continuous crackling sound and distortion - you literally cannot hear the other person and screaming into the phone doesn't help.

PLease help....
 
Nature is a harsh mistress. I had a lightning bolt strike my telephone pole nearly 2 weeks ago and despite 2 faults logged with Telkom I have not had my service properly restored

Let me begin by saying I am extremely frustrated at this point, so might get edgy...

I reported two downed Telkom lines on Sunday (SM 70877). One pole is broken in half and the other completely ripped out of the ground.
Telkom telephone cables are lying on the ground and in a tree.

My line still works - but if it rains or the wind blows it loses sync.
I reported this as 143CRK161114

Telkom SMS'ed to say line is fine today (Tuesday). I lost my toys and they send another technician out to check.
Now - I am at work so my mom is home. He spins her a story about the line needs to be 4MB and not 10MB, downgrades my line and leaves.

Now - with tears in my eyes - how does downgrading my line repair two physically damaged Telkom poles on the street?

Please send someone competent to
a) set my line back to 10MB where it works fine (albeit syncing at 8MB)
b) do an assessment of the damage and allocate a work order to repair your damaged infrastructure.
