Haha, the idea that nuance matters to him is quite the exercise in optimism. And it goes way beyond the Sunni/Shia split. Within the Sunni denomination (which makes up like 90% of the world's Muslims), you've got many sub-branch, Salafists being one, that embrace a fundamental/literalist approach, distinct from Wahhabists (Saudi-style jihadists). But then even within Salafism there's sub-branches, with one being 'quiet Salafism', which focuses the fundamentalist/literalist approach internally - as in, you must strenuously observe religious rites, but only for yourself. This is distinct from the Salafi jihadists, which is where most jihadists fall.

The world is what it is but things are a lot more complicated than you know and it is not helpful to allow yourself to fall into the us vs them trap especially when right now as we sit here, there are thousands of Muslims fighting alongside Christians in Syria and also xborder skirmishes into Iraq and dying but also making huge leaps and bounds against not just ISIS but against Erdogan's designs for the Kurds and his ultimate plan for Syria.

Nothing is what it seems and when you look at what is unfolding now between Turkey and Germany/Netherlands and you realize this thing is much bigger than you or I. Get angry all you want or troll all you want but when you come with you "See it's the Muslims" it only shows that you are missing the big picture. The world is on the verge of an economic collapse and right now the US, Russia, Turkey, Germany and pretty much all the NATO countries are preparing for a massive showdown.

If you want to do something constructive, pray or chant or whatever you can and hope that it doesn't happen.
