Did it in an ais store
You can also buy it at any 7-11 or Family Mart, just take your passport.
I went for the Happy Tourist sim from DTAC when I was there last time - got it at the Phuket airport. They have a few options: http://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/products/tourist-sim.html.
Planning on taking the 15 day one again when I arrive in 2 weeks time.
Have to say, was rather impressed with cellphone reception that just worked everywhere.

Interesting, I don't recall seeing the Light version before. Will definitely give that a shot. Where are you staying in Samui?

There is a bar called Lion Live Music. Started off there with some beer towers after we couldn't decide on a place to start. The performers on stage (musicians performing cover version of songs) were so awesome we stayed for a few hours.

I paid 400THB for unlimited data for 14 days. This was at MBK in Bangkok. Not sure how the price differs elsewhere.

was tempted to go thoughI'm back in SA - 1st time in Thailand and I must say I already miss this place.
Trip summary:
I did Phiphi 2 nights and slept at Anita Resort @ R450 per room bnb booked via agoda.com (1 000 bhat refundable key deposit) - it was the cheapest option and our room was on the top floor. Luckily we didnt have bags so going up and down those stairs wasn't an issue (when sober). The hotel sent someone to fetch us at the harbour (yay) and their rooms were super clean & breakfast also ok (eggs, sausage,ham,fruits). If I go back here I would book the rooms on the ground floor, just to avoid those stairs. The hotel itself is very clean, hotel kitchen included (yep I did a quick inspection!LOL!). The staff were great as well. Had most of our meals at Sabai restaurant-it was the cheapest place we could find on PhiPhi. PhiPhi prices are insane & most places dont bother negotitating! If I ever go back there I will be sure to buy everything in Phuket before boarding that ferry.
Nightlife is awesome & met a few russian dudes

Day trips we did the PP Pirate boat-worth the money & thoroughly enjoyed it. Their boat is big, so overcrowding was not an issue. The staff were very helpful and made sure everyone was accomodated. My only gripe was the "free dinner" as advertised turned out to be fried rice with eggs and cabbage. If you do go on their day trip-be sure to bring your own food and snacks to keep you until sunset. They sell booze and drinks, but at inflated prices.
The ferry to the island is 350bhat (700 return), but because I forgot to buy beforehand I ended up paying 1 000 bhat return trip. Not too happy about that.
