Our ADSL line was busted, and despite the fact that it took a day and a half to address the issue the Telkom techie that diagnosed and repaired the fault was friendly, competent and fast. Both my line and ADSL port in the exchange were busted – fixed it very fast considering the work involved.

I have the same problem - currently waiting for Telkom. Hope my experience is as good

good to hear. Telkom took over a work to get my DSL back up and speeds are still at 2mbit after constantly phoning and asking them to return me to my speed. I keep getting the usual "we have noted that and will send a tech".
WHERE IS MY TECH!!

A telkom tech has been to my house twice and still nothing is fixed!

Ah, well. Maybe it helps being MyBB webby.

Funny that there is seldom anything wrong with the average TELKOM techie. Normally competant, efficient, capable and friendly. Its to get him at your place that is normally the issue. The dreaded TELKOM "get rid of the idiot customer" front (call centre) appointed to deal with the public. Long ago I had the techies direct tel no. Never called the TELKOM helpline or the so called "customer service/Call centre". Just called the techie and I was sorted. That was the good old days.

I recall there used to be a Telkom employee on the forums who was quite helpful but he moved on to greener pastures. We could seriously use with a telkom rep on the board to help clear things up.

Sorry to steal the thread but does anyone know if speeds can be adjusted remotely or does a tech have to do it. When i upgraded to 4mbit it was done literally a few minutes after i asked for the upgrade. Still stuck on 2mbit though

Same problem with me after those storms. ADSL line not working so lekker. Phoned Telkom on the Friday, techie arrived on the following Thursday. Okay so it took a full week, but at least my line is now 100%. They fixed it properly on the first attempt!

I've never had a problem with the guys at the coal face. The problem is with the so-called help desk and management, in particular the lack of any way in which to escalate to a higher level.

Were Telkom not a parastatal monopoly they would have been out of business years ago simply because of their lack of respect for their clientèle.

Maybe in time, with some needed competition, Telkom might jack up their customer help desk services or risk loosing clients.

To be honest, I have never had problems with Telkom. I have been using the 4meg line now for more than a year. There once was a problem with the line speed, I phoned them, and they did it while I was on the phone. I had problems connecting to my modem wirelessly, and they sorted me out immediately. I have to say I am happy with Telkom's service thus far. I wouldnt go anywhere else to be honest.

Still waiting for techie to start on fault repair (reported yesterday morning) - this is the longest wait in the 4 years I have been using adsl

Telkom called me yesterday morning asking me about the fault i reported.
I told them AGAIN!! that my DSL was back up but my speed was literally halved and i want it back up to 4mbit not 2mbit. I live 2km from the exchange.
The guy replied and i quote "oh... il pass the message along"
NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!
