The 200,000+ km thread

Thx guys. Yeah I had the sub frame repaired about 5 years ago. Been upgrading and restoring stuff due to wear and tear. But overall it's in good nick.

Except mine...because it's well-maintained.

About 1/3 of the expenses were up to 200000km, 2/3 from 200000km to 300000km. A fair proportion was because I was trying to track down an irritating knock. Found it eventually, but replaced a fair bit on the way. I guess bushes and suspension components could have lasted another couple of years.
 
Lots of things still work. The engine light has been on for months now, so clearly it still works too.

Should go off sometime this week when I fit a new O2 sensor on the manifold.
 
If you go with OEM parts, the price have tripled since last time I did it, its about R3k. Getting a generic part fitted for R400 :cool:.
 
2002 Opel Astra 1.6 CS clocking in at almost 313000 KMs. Daily work commute is 110km with hardly any stop-go traffic.

I would say that the past 2 years have cost me about R10 000 each in maintenance doing about 25 000 KMs per year.

* New cambelt and pulleys
* Full major service
* New water pump
* New front pads and discs

2013 - Automate Car Service in Greenstone
* Full major service
* New water pump...again!!!!
* New rear pads and discs
* New right front CV joint
* Throttle body clean

My Hyundai Accent 1997 is still going strong. 210 000km I believe.

I've had to replace things here and there, but nothing to do with the engine. Guzzling more oil than it should, but not a massive issue as long as I fill it up least once a month. Replaced the clutch plate a few years ago. The shocks a couple more years ago. Normal stuff. The fans are shot, but the radio is still motoring on.
 
I've had a BMW 1995 316i Auto for 3/4 years now. it has 213k on the clock. had an aircon service last week. needs to go for a service soon. guys said the shocks and brakes are fine. the suspension feels a bit spongy. will take her for a shock/suspension check soon. its leaning on the one side.
 
My 255Mm ML320 is now completely oil-usage-free :D It used to dump about 1l every 750km... Did a 700km round trip this long weekend, including 120km of 20km/h low range crawling on game reserve back routes, and the level on the dipstick didn't budge! Great success! (and 5 new gaskets and one tube of gasketmaker)

But the viscous coupler for the radiator fan is shagged. New one procured via eBay for approximately 1/4 what the agents want for it ... ;)
 
While doing the O2 sensor they foind the left CV joint is dodgy. Seems valid for a car that age, can't complain about my '01 CS.
 
Sweet zombie Jesus! that is very good, hats off to you sir. Wow, only ever saw that in a '84 SE420.
 
My car is in the shop today - new viscous fan, possibly need a refurbished alternator, possibly new engine mounts. I think its now somewhere around 235 000kms.

Going to keep it for one more year I think.
