The 200,000+ km thread

2001 Jetta TDi, 205000km. Bought it in 2005 with 60 000km on the clock. No problems.
My mom drives my old 1995 Golf GTi, aprox 250000km. Only a problem with the brakes.

1969 VW Beetle - drove about ten years and wrapped 99 999 mile odometer (160 000 km) over twice if I remember correctly so at least 320 000 km excluding previous 40 years of use. It is still in use by a relative although the engine has been redone a couple of times.

Borrowed 1989 Mazda 626 with 340 000km on the clock before giving it back to owner. Only replaced blown head gasket - still had original honing marks in cylinders.

Currently driving a 2010 Kia Cerato 2.0 with 54000km so it should hit 200 000km in 6 years time. It's the first vehicle I've owned since new so I know it has not been abused and should last another 10 to 15 years (300 000km to 425 000km).

1997 BMW 318is - 345000km. No problems so far. I don't use it that much any more but will still hold onto it for the times the other car needs to go for a service etc.

1998 Jetta with 278 000 km on it, only had one problem with it when it reached 256 000 km had to replace the clutch.

I had a 2001 Volvo S40 T4. When I sold it 4 years ago, it had 198k km on the clock and was as strong and comfortable as the day it was bought. I still miss it sometimes.

1986 Ford Meteor got it when it had 86k on the clock, watched it roll over to 100k and then to 250k when I finally had an accident with it in 2003, that was only 3 years of driving it, I did a lot of mileage for the first company I worked at. Nothing done on the engine but did have the clutch done and the entire braking system.
1997 Opel Astra 1.6 - The list of issues on this car can fill an A4 standard notebook, but I got it at 120k and sold it when it hit 240k in 2009, had it for 6 years, but yeah it gave a lot of trouble.
2005 1.6 VW Polo - Current car got it with 102k on the clock, it's about to clock 170k soon :-) this car has strangely enough been a dream to drive, only issue was had to have the power steering rack replaced, turned out the issue actually was a broken shock mounting. Other then that touch wood hardly any issues besides the wear and tear seems to show more.

My Opel Astra Estate has 275,000 on the clock! :D

Before that I had a Toyota Corolla that went up to 325,000 before I sold it.

My first car was inherited from my Dad, it was an old Merc... and that had 440,000 on the clock when I sold it.

Bought my 1997 Golf 3 GTS in 2002 with about 60000km and just sold it with 293000km on the clock. Still going well.

I've had my cars serviced religiously and fixed things as they have broken and I've had very little hassle with them.

2002 Ford Mondeo: 272000km. Still going strong. Mostly city traffic.

A friend of mine recently sold his '99 Renault Megane with 450000km on it.

Current

2004 Audi A3 2.0 TDi - 226000km
2006 Audi A4 1.8T - 216000km

Ex
1997 Isuzu KB 280DT - Sold it with 418000km on the clock.

Have a 1986 Nissan 1200 1/2 ton LDV which has done 570 000km. Have done valves on it, plus front suspension parts (from all the techs driving up pavements). A bit of rust around the windscreen. Very easy car to repair, 1970's styling

Similar to pic, even same colour

Who buys a car with 450 000 kms on it?

My 330 is nearing 170 000kms

Who buys a car with 450 000 kms on it?

Someone wanting a cheap car? It was in great shape. 2nd clutch, probably 3rd set of brake pads. Things that broke got replaced.

I have 1997 Hyundai Sonata, approaching 440000, and still going strong. The engine has been opened once to replace a valve or 2 two. The previous owner had a timing belt snap on him, and bent a few valves.

My mom has a 1992 Opel Astra 140 on 238 000km. Original clutch and gearbox. Interior of the car is deteriorating but mechnically she is still strong.

The Merc is on 170'000km now. Should be on 200k by this time next year. It's a 2005/6 model btw.
