The 200,000+ km thread

Shoot, diesel is always better at fuel consumption. I own the 320i of the same model, it averages 8.1l.

Like you, normal wear and tear stuff, serviced by BMW, recently had to have the O2 sensors replaced. Currently sitting at 155 000km.
Also need to replace oil sensor 3K and need ot do V Belt and Pulley which
is about 800

2007 X-Type 2.2D. Got her on 128 000 km.
...and she was pronounced dead at just over 270 000 km. Water damage to the engine :crying:

Oh well, now I'll see how my new girl fares. 2012 Jaguar XF 3.0D S with 46 000 km on the clock.

Head gasket issues? Sorry about your loss :(

No, a "rainwater across the roadway because City of Cape Town didn't to proper maintenance" issue. Pressure test on the cooling system was performed at the dealership, and it kept full pressure for the duration of the test... so she was still in good health :( (other than the mechanical failure due to water in the engine, of course).

Hydrolocked? no but it kept compression then it shouldnt be hydrolocked

Hydrolocked. The cooling system passed the pressure test. No idea whether they did a compression test as well.
Are you going to rebuild or mechanical write off?

Strangely I know someone with a diesel whose injector failed dumped diesel into the combustion chamber and resulted in hydrolocking

W202 or W203?
Kompressor if W203?
w202 .no compressor .but has a different exh since 110 000 km 4 into 2 then just past the gearbox into 1 .non merc injectors .got them in poland .ecu also was rewritten long ago .only real problem is car eats clutch plates and brake pads .clutch plate is very small 220 mm and is also a fixed plate .dual mass flywheel .further minor wiring problems and dry joints .get a constant 280 km to 20 litres petrol .an amazing car.tyres wear down perfectly flat maybe 40 000 km per set 205/60-15

Not bad for 475K mileage - how did the ECU pack up?

ecu didnt fail but they had problems with the coil transistors they used to fail and the ecu is a sealed unit so i went with a different system .no cat .no airflow sensor only temp inside the airbox and external temp .oxygen sensor removed .its now set manually .the fuel injection system is now a vacuum operated system from a different model .zero problems and i think it works better but has its downsides .no idle up when cold or when the aircon is on also a different electronic throttle body from the USA .that was the main reason for all the changes .motor .gearbox and diff have never been opened.i did have to make my own harnesses .that was a mission .but other sensors stayed the same as original .knock sensor removed though.it also has a dedicated laptop for trouble shooting as Merc cant read the system anymore it runs on a dedicated version of XP with a card that slides into a slot on the side of laptop uses a serial port on the card .painfull yes but it works .

My Nissan Sentra had 350,000 odd km on, My Nissan Maxima had about the same, Honda Prelude had 335,000km

Had a Opel Rekord 200iE, had over 400,000km on. My dad had a Renualt Kangoo for his business, he did 420,000km on it. We had a Toyota Camry 200si that had 450,000km on.

All cars will still going strong. Moto's had never being opened up.

My 2022 Mazda CX-5 is sitting on 9,800km...

I religiously changed the oil on all cars at 10,000km. Only had minor repairs like CV joints, clutch (all wear and tear). An alternator here and there, nothing major.

1994 Honda Ballade. Sold it in 1999 to my friend's wife. She drove it daily from Kirstenhof to Epping and back;. In that time, the only breakage is the window-winding handle

She worked for a fork-lift maintenance co and they maintain it perfectly, free of charge. Oil (Synthetic) every 8000km, new tyres every 2 or so years. It has had 4 clutches and 4 sets of brakes, 12 sets of windscreen wipers and in 2018 had covered 510 000km. A gent from Honda SA came to look at it and published an article in the Japanese factory magazine

She retired at the end of 2021 after working there for 33 years. The boss wanted to give her a Honda Civic but she said its too big for her. The steering pump is starting to become noisy on full lock
