The 2013 Transfer Rumours Thread

even WBA beating Arsenal with good signings?

Anelka is a 34 year old striker. He had his day but I don't think he will be the prolific scorer he once was. He was transferred on a free transfer which just speaks about who wanted his services.

I would have also preferred Higuain coming to the Emirates rather than Saurez. I cannot understand Wenger's logic in this because Higuain wanted to play for us and would have preferred us over Napoli but we needed to match the asking fee of which I think was fair. Saurez is a loose cannon and I don't trust his antics. I think he is a fabulous player but he is just so volatile that he could get banned for anything.

He has been banned for almost anything 4 things so far (in his time in england). 1)Racism, 2)Giving fulham fans the finger, 3)Yellow card suspension and 4)Biting Ivanovic.

I don't think you guys should carry on pursuing him.

I agree... for the price, Arsenal could do better, holistically...

Hey, he is a loose cannon, maybe that why Wenger wants him at the gunners. :p

Chamakh linked with a 6 month loan to Crystal Palace. Would prefer he left for good but it's a start I guess.

honestly if it was up to me I would not pursue it anymore, I just don't understand Wenger's logic - why stop pursuing a player who wanted to play for us (Higuain) because his asking price went up to 32 mill but then put in an offer for saurez for 40 mill :wtf: Why not just pay the asking fee by RM and save 10 mill.

It is (apparently) because RM agreed a price for Higuain, allowed Arsenal to negotiate with the player, then jacked up the price. Not sure how true that is though.

Because Wenger does not intend on signing anyone close to that price. He just wants the fans to believe the club has greater ambition than just a top four spot. I mentioned it earlier- it's all a crock of lies from Wenger and the Arsenal board.

You probably on the money

I really wanted Higuain to come to the Emirates

To be honest, so did I. Would have loved to see El Pipita in the PL. I was actually backing Spurs to get him (because they actually do business in the transfer window), but kudos to Rafa for swooping in.

What Randhir said and I'm guessing Suarez's versatility i.e. he can play as a lone striker or behind/alongside another striker AND he's EPL proven makes him more expensive. It also technically weakens Liverpool which is always a good thing unless you're Liverpool.

Then again, Maverick Jester could be spot on and this is all fart and no poo from Wenger & Co.

Spurs are in for Soldado I think.

That's definitely what I think.

It's actually all very simple.

Wenger is bidding on Saurez to drive the price up for Real Madrid. Real realises that they're going to have to spend a lot of money, so while they have to spend so much they might as well buy Bale.

They pay Spurs 100mil for Bale. Spurs needs a new Stadium and they use the R100mil + a R100 loan to buy the Emirates from Arsenal.

Wenger takes the R200mil and buys Messi.
