Yes, but why would his secretary be privvy to arrangements with Mr Tongo specifically?
How did Mr Diwani or his secretary get to hear about Mr Tongo ?

- Mr Tongo was arranged for separately : in advance ( the first circumstantial evidence of a plot? )(two suspects thus: Mr Diwali & secretary)
- before the request of a hit was made, in person by, Mr Diwali to Mr Tongo
 
There's [-]whispers[/-] tabloid reports that Mr Dewani has carried out a similar murder. Maybe Mr Tongo was his preferred supplier from that murder.

Tongo operated a shuttle service - the name is unknown to me, but it is possible that the secretary googled for a shuttle service whilst she was organising the itinerary and chose this one at random. Doubtful, though!

I very much doubt that anyone would believe the money was for the ill fated trip. Perhaps another trip but not that one. If I was hijacked and my wife killed and then the driver fo the vehicle comes to me asking for money for the trip I would knock his head clean off his shoulders.

You're right - it would be weird to ask for money after the trip went so wrong. Maybe his excuse will be that it was for another - subsequent - trip.

Absolutely - especially if you stay in a 5 star hotel - literally everything can and is organised for you, you only have to ask.
 
The guys arrested so far are criminals..... Does one realy believe anything they say, even under oath ?

How is it that when an ordinary oke on the street gets murdered there isn't such an organised effort by the cops to catch the perpetrators?

This murder saga is something out of Hollywood....

Add a twist ... SA govt is trying to save face against the global outcry of murder and mayhem in SA

I remember reading they raided the premises/houses of a few known hi-jackers. I guess these people are on some informal SAPS list and someone spilled the beans.

Ye, they were looking for someone by a specific name at that stage already. The actual killers were seen by a few witnesses, so they must have given the description/name possibly before Tongo confessed.

It would be interesting to hear what the other accused have to say though, if they backed up Tongo's story independently it would help.

Damn, how do the Sun get a spill from the police in Cape Town before we do. This payment could be a random fare for the driver, but it's probably pretty obvious when you watch the video. Judging from Cele's comments were he didn't even bother to use the police's favourite word "alleged", they must be sure of their case. Or Cele is just an idiot, he definitely doesn't have a way with words.

Jip, he is legally obliged to use the word 'alleged' until such time as the person appeared in court and were found guilty/not guilty.

This model citizen gets involved in a murder even thought he had a job with a reasonable salary, because he could afford his own car?
All of this for a complete stranger and a piffling amount of money?

If you would read this in a murder mystery book what would you think about the story line?
But life is stranger than fiction sometimes.
