No there is one set of laws.

The rich can have them applied fairer than the poor. Because money gives them access to people that are intelligent.

If you say life is unfair, okay it is unfair.

Basically the judge found in favour of the policeman but said that the policeman was too stupid to have made it up.

Libel cases in the UK have ruined a lot of people.
I just wish that Showerhead would decide to sue some of his detractors for libel and the entire country would have some wonderful entertainment. Not even Mac could save him that.
Former government chief whip Andrew Mitchell has lost his libel case over the so-called plebgate incident.

Mitchell sued The Sun over a 2012 front-page story which claimed he called PC Toby Rowland a “f**king pleb” as he tried to exit the Downing Street gates late at night. Mitchell admitted swearing at the officer, but denied using the word “pleb”.

The newspaper’s story caused a political scandal that ended with Mitchell being forced to resign.

Mitchell then sued The Sun for libel, while separately being sued by Rowland. But following a two-week hearing, Mr Justice Mitting said he was “satisfied” that Mitchell “did say the words alleged or something very close to them”.

The judge added that PC Rowland was “not the sort of man who would have had the wit, imagination, or inclination” to invent on the spur of the moment an account of what a senior politician had said to him.

Mitchell said he was “bitterly disappointed” by the decision but hopes it will “bring this matter to a close”. He now faces a multi-million-pound legal bill.

COMPLAINT LODGED AGAINST JUDGE TRAVERSO

A formal complaint was lodged against Western Cape High Court deputy Judge President Jeanette Traverso on Thursday, the Higher Education Transformation Network (HETN) said.

The complaint regarded her conduct during the trial late last year of British businessman Shrien Dewani.

Traverso failed to afford the State a fair hearing, according to the complaint letter to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

HETN chairman Lucky Thekisho charged that Traverso had undermined the court's authority and integrity by showing prejudice to black prosecutor Adrian Mopp.

"Judge Traverso and the entire defence counsel are Afrikaners. This in itself is not problematic," he said.

However, he believed her socialisation and background were pertinent in the context of so-called ethical breaches.

The HETN believed she had repeatedly harassed the State by subjecting it to "aggressive and unpleasant interrogation", apparently showing annoyance and sarcasm.

Although not central to the complaint, it felt Traverso had erred in discharging Dewani and that her decision was based on an impartial evaluation of evidence.

Traverso last month granted Dewani's application for his discharge on the charge of killing his wife Anni in Cape Town in 2010.

The HETN wanted her removed from the Bench if she was found guilty of improper conduct. It also asked that she be suspended from her duties pending the investigation.

JSC spokesman Sello Chiloane confirmed the complaint was received on Thursday.

no I think this judge was absolutely correct in her findings. nothing pointed to dewani being involved in the murder on paper, he was just clever and got away with it that's all. his defence was smart.
 
I see someone is going to be convening a coroners inquest into the death. This seems odd as she was not a british citizen.

And by her own fathers admission, was not legally married to Shrien.

I guess when they said they just wanted him to have his day in court. It came with the proviso that they were happy with the out come.

They want to know the truth, but the only one that can tell them the truth is Shrien and the murderers. I wonder why they did not go see them in prison and ask them the questions. They did however see fit to invite the prostitute over for tea and treated him as 'a son'.

Quite frankly they made it clear that they believe he is guilty of something. Be it murder or just leaving their daughter in the hands of killers. Clearly they feel he needs to pay even more(than the four years of his life lost, the detention in a mental institution, money lost etc).

It is going to be difficult for the Hindochas to get Shrien to talk to them (for closure), while they intend to hang him high.

ANNI'S FATHER'S ARM SEVERED IN ACCIDENT

The father of honeymoon murder victim Anni Dewani has had an arm ripped off in an industrial accident, his family confirmed on Wednesday.

Vinod Hindocha, 65, whose daughter was kidnapped and murdered in South Africa in 2010, had his right arm severed just below the shoulder as he was fixing a lift in his native Sweden, the UK-based Press Association reported.

According to Independent Online the accident happened last Tuesday.

He was flown to hospital where the limb was reattached after 13 hours of surgery. Doctors believe he could regain full use of it.

His brother Ashok, who joined members of Anni's family during the trial of her widower Shrien in Cape Town last year, said: "He told me he was in the lift as it went down and he could see his severed arm on the first floor as he went down to the ground floor. Life is not fair.

"He has movement in his elbow, which surgeons say is the most important thing, and his fingertips are getting warmer. He is a fighter."

Anni, an engineer, was killed on a luxury honeymoon in Cape Town with Bristol millionaire Shrien Dewani.

Dewani, 34, was last year cleared by the Western Cape High Court of any role in his wife's murder. The case was thrown out before he could give evidence.

Three men, Zola Tongo, Mziwamadoda Qwabe, and Xolile Mngeni, who were already serving jail terms for their role in the killing, claimed Dewani arranged the hijacking in which he would survive and his wife would be killed.

Judge Jeanette Traverso ruled their evidence was flawed.

Dewani has not commented publicly on the case since he was cleared, although he might be called to give evidence at his late wife's inquest, a date for which is yet to be set.

I thought his initial sentence was part of a plea deal which he reneged on when he turned hostile on the stand? Correctional services are running a catch and release program where they release perps who serve minimum regardless of their state of rehabilitation.
