That much is obvious. What is not obvious is how the forensic evidence established at the time the police made the statement could so rapidly and directly link a suspect to the murder.

I wonder how they linked the driver to the murder / hijacking (if it is him)... Maybe too many holes in story during interrogation?

Maybe that, and maybe also something to do with that which we heard on ETV, namely that the vehicle was falsely registered in the name of a person who was not even aware of it.

2) did he go to police, there is no mention of it?
3) why was the driver using a "stolen" vehicle as the car was not registered in his or anyone involved names?

None of your posts re: death penalty makes sense. It is all academic and pretty much a wasted debate anyway, as this country willl never re-instate it.

1. The newspaper articles mentioned he was thrown out of the vehicle when it was hijacked. The husband was thrown out later, after the hijackers drove around for a while.

2. The papers would not have all the info, just the basics. So it was not reported and nobody knows if the driver did report the incident.

Yes, the thing is, merely finding someones fingerprints in the car does not give the police sufficient reason to arrest anyone. Finding gunpowder residue on the drivers hands or clothing would likely be the only forensics that could lead to such a rapid arrest. If it is the driver, then the husband is implicated.

This is speculating of course, which I normally don't do, (in public anyway) but this case is so weird from the beginning.

1. It is not a forecast. It is a fact. The death penalty will never be re-instituted in this country. Go and read how it was abused by the apartheid government to get rid of its enemies.

Well, that is debateable - he was thrown out by force and at that time they were still promising that they wouldn't harm her.

There also is a good chance that they intended raping her, but didn't intend killing her - but these sorts of things can obviously spiral out of control very quickly.

Just a wrong word from her could have earned her a bullet.
