The Asic thread

Anyone ever use FEDEX for the shipping from Bitmain? I see they are quite a bit cheaper than the others. Any tips and tricks I can use to streamline the process? Busy slapping together my S9 order. It's crazy how much the local mark-up is!!!

I've used DHL mainly because of an issue that I'd had with supaswift (local Fedex agent) previously. They mistakenly declared an incoming netbook as $1 value and then passed the fine on to us when SARS opened the parcel and discovered it wasn't scrap. I was so annoyed - they refused to accept liability and shut down our company account internationally until we coughed up the R4k SARS fine for a R4k netbook. That said, it was clearly down to individuals, but I vowed never again to use them. No doubt DHL could make the same mistakes.

Urgh, that sucks. I use DHL as much as I can, but it's a pretty substantial difference in price. Will give FedEx a go, hopefully like you said, down to certain peanuts in the packet.

...and now they only accepting BCH as payment :(

Will Altcointrader be the easiest to get BCH? I see it's going for just over R28k/BCH, my order comes to 0.999BCH.

Its a bit pumped on Altcointrader. You can risk waiting for a cool down in day or two or buy now...lol..Damned if you do damned if you dont

Meh... fsckit... transferred ZAR to ACT, will convert and send to Bitmain. :)

I was annoyed lol... looked at what I paid for the D3 miners and then looked at what I'd have had if I hadn't parted with that BTC :D
Can't live like that lol.

Why we mine..I sold 7 bcc coins long before they hit 40k a coin pump...My mined Btc is increasing in value

"The only people who got rich during the gold rush were the men selling shovels"

Well to be honest - I'm not likely to pump R12-R14k a month into BTC/Crypto... at least mining gives me that opportunity.

So my R32K deposit attracted a R160- deposit fee, which sucks, but yeah, order (finally) in for my BCH.

Edit: Just transferred my BCH into the address Bitmain provided. How long should I wait for an acknowledgement of sorts? I assume I'll get an e-mail?

Edit #2: So my payment was never processed, because I never got the mail with the confirmation link I needed to click from AltCoinTrader to withdraw my BCH to Bitmain's address. Now my Bitmain order got cancelled, and I needed to request ACT to not process the pending transaction. *sigh*

Anyone got some advice?

So my D3 the last 2 days has been acting up. So it starts up, hash rate is around 19GHs, but then after a few hours it decreases suddenly to 4-6GHs. Unfortunately I don't run this from home so I cannot restart it all the time, any idea what could be happening? Hope this isn't faulty...

How is temp. After reboot check temps after 5 minutes in miner status . could be heat causing shut down of boards

It would have an auto shutoff at 80 degrees like the L3+, Are you seeing this hashrate on the machine itself or Nicehash? If on Nicehash it is possible no one has bought your hashing power, I've seen that a few times with my L3+ when switching from a different pool, it does eventually get taken up on NH.

Funny enough it doesn't have the optional check box to shut it down at 80% (Miner settings tab). That said, perhaps that's the default anyway - except that mine reports 80 degrees on one of the chip temperatures on a normal day.

I just checked mine and discovered on the miner status page that one of the hashboards was down. Hopefully not permanent - i just moved stuff around yesterday and had to unplug / reseat stuff so I'll pop in and see what's up and report back.

*EDIT* a reboot sorted it. Not sure why it was down to start with though.
@oliverwww if you send me your kernel log (system - kernel log tab) we may see something there. Also post a screenshot of your miner status page when it's glitching.

Here's my status page
