1.9TDi? Didn't know they still sold that, 2007 was 2.0TDi

What gearbox?

If manual, budget on clucth 10k and turbo 20k, and you would be sorted.

Depending on previous owner the Turbo and clutch can easily last till 250 000.

If Auto, then which type? Don't buy multitronic!

Hi honestly don't know that much about cars and don't know what kind of gearbox. The car has full history at audi and is manual.

Then it would be a great buy! Keep 20k in savings account for when something goes wrong, otherwise I cant see issues, because its manual you dont need to be affraid of gearbox issues that can cost you 140k

Sigh, smacked a pothole last night. At Hi-Q now getting replacements. Another R4.5k thrown at my Audi.

Thankfully Hi-Q have this tyre insurance. Saved me R2
5k odd.

Hi guys,

I need your help. The chrome window trim on my A3 sedan started coming off.

I am looking for the clips as per the attached to try and refit them. Alternatively, just replace the entire chrome pieces (they are also slightly bent now)

Can you advise where i can get the clips or the trim or both?

Any suggestions on who can assist to fit them?

Audi will no doubt have the clips at around R100 a pop, you probably need a good few as well. If you haven't bent the trim enough to get a kink in it then they normally lie nice and flat when clipped back on, even if there are some slight flat spots. Do not assume they have them in stock or that they are cheap, they may have them but expect you to buy the full car set for R10k or some similarly ridiculous price.

If it's on the car then get duct tape and tape the loose part down in the mean time, you do not want it to bend badly and loose the option of reusing it. When the clips break Panel beaters often just glue them back on with sikaflex and hold the trim in place with masking tape till it dries. They shouldn't charge much to do that.

Thanks for the feedback. They havent bent to the point where they have a kink - but i have removed them because they were bending whilst driving.

Will see if i can get the clips at Audi or a panel beater.

Try Audi first... Paid less there for the coolant bottle than Goldwagen quoted (a few years ago). I bought similar clips at Renault for about R20 each :D

Hi guys
My audi A4 1.8T Multitronic has finally gone out of Motorplan. is there any recommendation for a good mechanic in the centurion area that can handle services not for an arm and a leg. Also any good extended warranties that you can recommend.

I used hollard motor extender - i never had to claim so cant say much about that part. The policy did contribute a certain amount per year towards a service.

Ouch dude. Every car I've ever owned has ended up on a flat bed. Hoping my CC will be the first that doesnt end up there. For interests sakes: What happened? Symptoms before failure?
