Ouch dude. Every car I've ever owned has ended up on a flat bed. Hoping my CC will be the first that doesnt end up there. For interests sakes: What happened? Symptoms before failure?

I will post the whole story, once everything is resolved

Went to do car shopping and man Audi is gone so boring and those non-sport leather seats are pathetic (Q3 specifically).

Anybody knows what's the tolerance above the 15000kms for services under the service plan ?

Just had a fight with the dealer saying that the date they give me is too far as I do 1000kms a week but they assured me it was fine.

Still dubious...

They've always advised me 1000km above or below the 15k mark, so yeah you'd be forgiven for doubting what they say... IIRC my 3rd party maintenance plan mentions the same.

Cool, thanks !

Though I'll phone earlier next time as they seem to give you dates only 2/3 weeks away !

Damn, where is that, Audi Claremont (Cpt) always seem to be able to accommodate with only 3 days notice.

On another note, this A3 was selling for a steal I thought, would have jumped at it if i needed a replacement for mine. It's sold now though.

Issue is close to being resolved. Posted here for some advice late last year. Had issues at the time, which seemed like potential mechatronic issues, after some research. VW listened to my concerns, but the diagnostics guy looked at me like a doctor with a self diagnosing patient. He said that it was probably software. Two days later they let me know that they are replacing the clutches under maintenance plan. It was on 90000km at the time. I voiced my concerns about a malfunctioning mechatronic unit possibly causing damage to the clutches, but they said not to worry. Car seemed smooth when I got it back.

Fast forward to 23 April. Sunday drive out on Malanshoogte Rd... Car dies out there. Flashing spanner where gears selection displays on MFD. Stuck on D7 when D is selected. Engine runs but car is not going anywhere. I asked my insurance to send a flatbed and went home. The car is now unfortunately on 103000km and just out of maintenance plan. That Monday I went to the dealer who replaced the clutches, but they were handling me. I told them that it was the mechatronic that they didn't replace, but they were not taking responsibility.

I decided to contact VWSA. The case manager was a really nice lady and I felt like she had my back. Took it to a different dealer and with all the holidays, diagnosis was only made yesterday. Mechatronic. R31000... Today VWSA agreed to pay for all the parts, but not the labour, bringing things down to a manageable R3000. I guess that is a great outcome, considering the circumstances, but I still feel someone should foot the bill for the labour. Maybe the original dealership. Do I pay the labour and cut my losses, or fight this a little bit longer? I just want my car back!

It's crazy, yes it was our fault, we admit that but hows about you pay the labout?

Good old tactic from bargaining 101.

I suppose they have you over a barrel but then again you can do the good customer 101 straight back at them. Politely inform her that you did alert them to the fact the mechatronics was an issue before which they ignored, as a result they hugely inconvenienced you the loyal customer and potentially indangered your life leaving you stranded on the side of the road, hows about they come to the party and carry the full cost in this instance, it would seem only fair?

I don't think they can argue against that. The lady is taking a chance.

Yes. I agree. I have to try. Already gave the go ahead to the service advisor at the dealership today, as I don't want to hold things up, but haven't spoken with VWSA again. Will call and thank the woman at head office for her help so far and the kind gesture, but insist that someone covers the labour as well.

What was the original problem if you don't mind me asking? I see you've got the Tsi (7 speed), I've got a diesel sitting on just under 80 000 km, haven't had a single problem yet. Was yours problematic, or was that the first problem?

Not a problem...

Potential DSG problems incoming... Not an Audi (it's a Passat), but I know some guys here have had mechatronic failures. What were your symptoms? I've had a weird sluggish pull away in 1st, some clunky changes, as well as a weird vibration when coasting and shifting down from 4th to 3rd. Booked in for next week. Just hope I don't break down before that!

No problems before that.

Ok, my gear changes was also a bit harsh before my previous service (forgot about that), but a battery change sorted that. Battery started to run low. I wil be keeping an eye out for this, might get an extended warranty just before I reach 100 000 km. Thanks

I am having the same issue on my A1 - I've had shocking service with Audi (not surprising) and mines also just run out of maintenance plan. Good times.

Good luck man. Hope you have a good outcome too. It happened at the worst possible time for me. I quite my job a month ago and starting a new company this month. Almost 2 weeks now (with all the holidays) and looks like it is only going to be ready on Monday. VW just said that there is a waiting list for their courtesy vehicles. Currently driving one of our new NP200 work bakkies, so at least I have wheels.

I have no confidence in Audi stealerships...my first service , outside warranty...change the oil, spark plugs and a couple of filters...and also gave my a quote of 22.5k, excluding Vat and labour to replace mechatronics...as it was failing, oddly had not experienced any issues.

Anyways...thanks to so help from guys on here, was referred to German Auto Specialist.. https://www.facebook.com/groups/856797247741553/

was not the mechatronics, it was my clutch that was busy failing and has now failed....anyways, car is now in to replace it. How the hell they missed the clutch was going, is beyond me.
