Does sound a bit iffy... Shouldn't it be under plan though? It is a service after all

Nope, wheel alignment is an additional charge and not covered under the plans. I think they just offer it to everyone regardless just to make some extra cash.

I see... It shouldn't be needed if you haven't hit any potholes or ramped a speed bump or two I guess. How straight does the car to when you leave the steering?

If they recommend it, I would do it. What's R500 when you drive an Audi?
Rather listen to the advice of the people we entrust to keep our babies cruising.

Yeah I have 0 problems even when traveling at speeds, alignment to me is perfect

I've had alignment done under my Jeep maintenance plan. You get one every year (I think), under plan. Then I had it checked on my Passat a week ago... Wasn't charged.

Well you should have them balanced/swapped around in order to get the most life out of your tyres.

Ok, called Audi and asked them to do it after all. Thanks for the advice, always thought alignment was only needed around 20k

Do you need to rotate tyres on a Quattro?
Would wear be mostly even front/rear?

Last I heard, the Quattro is not AWD all the time. Only when necessary. Checked this when I had my A6. Dunno if newer models are the same.
Main thing is you must keep the profile the same on all 4. Change that and you can mess up your drive.

Oh let me add my Audi story.

When I got the car I could feel a very slight scratching and brake shudder on the car. It was marginal and in fact the Audi sales guy never picked anything up, but I'm a little more sensitive I guess and picked it up. I arranged for them to drive the car and point out the issues ... and they said they'd replace it for me under the warranty :)

Quite chuffed as that was one of the things one worries about on a manual car

Don't Audi just drive your car to the local tyre place and get the wheel aligment done there? In that case, take it yourself and save R300.

Audi Centre Cape Town did it themselves in this case - and too swamped at work to take more time off and drive to a better deal

I took a pass when Audi CPT offered the wheel alignment to me. Just didn't want to pay R500 for something that should cost R250.
